Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Fairness Doctrine at Maggie's Farm

Liberals want to bring back the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" as their plan to put talk radio out of business. How would it do that? Because every subject has 30 different views on it. I doubt that the Dems would wish to extend it to The Daily Kos or to Maggie's, but who knows?

It always amuses me how Liberals cannot tolerate dissent. Let's all rely on NPR and become one beautiful, happy family of group-thinking "sensitive, caring" parasites.

Anyway, in honor of the Dems' and especially Chuckie Shumer's desire to reinstate the Fairness Doctine, and out of consideration for our lady readers who feel that our Cheesecake/Beefcake ratio is way off target, we offer these:

Bird Dog, nice picture of the Navy Seal. Not exactly what I was looking for, though...got any with as much skin showing as the lovely lady in the picture below it? C'mon, how about some equal time - and I don't mean that in a socialist kind of way.

Of course we want equal skin, BD. That poor brave SEAL above is immersed in seaweed and Lord knows what other noxious substances. I know that there's a lovely picture of our brave SEALs running barechested on a beach [probably in Coronado] because Lex printed it a year ago. My problem is that I don't know how to find it on the vast and confusing Internet. Have a heart, BD. I just know that you young fellers have far greater computer skills than I do. Toad and Meta and I just want a nice skin pic to cheer ourselves up. You gallant gentlemen could do this if you really wanted to. And we'd feel a lot better.

I know you are all having fun here, not to intrude, but...

Do not forget the communist method of ignoring the opposition. When all the same news people who got the One elected turn their sights to talk radio this is the kind of lingo they will leverage at the beginning of each news segment on the subject:

"Extremist talk radio host....
"Hate spewing right wing radio....
"Should extremist views be on....
"A rise in hate-crimes could be related to....."

They do not need to present a different view, they are the news. They can ignore any statement by anyone that runs contrary to their slant.

Also do not forget that most of the "racist" symbol events of the last few years have been manufactured events.

Also do not forget the "church burnings" that Clinton was trying to leverage, or how the instant the Murrah building blew up talk radio was blamed by Slick Willie himself.

They can create what ever reality they want.

The Fairness Doctrine only applied to broadcast media (TV, Radio) because the government granted the use of the radio spectrum for free and so presumably could attach conditions to the grant. Such as a requirement for public service announcements. Maybe constitutional, maybe not.

Internet, cable, newspapers, magazines, XM, wireless spectrum, and so forth do not rely on the free grant of radio spectrum, so the case for applying the Fairness Doctrine, however tenuous, is no longer there.

I spend very little time listening to talk radio, but a lot of time surfing the net. Like Maggies Farm. What, me worry?

How about this for unbiased reporting? I'll bet you can't guess what minority group these kids come from--you will have to guess of course because there sure in hell isn't any newspaper in this state that's gonna tell you.

This guy was just a nice fun-loving, good natured musician sharing the good times with his community.

However, there does appear to be a growing awareness in this town that the women who have run rampant over our schools and universities(over white men in particular) are beginning to be confronted. Confronted for theft, for incompetence, for base cruelty. We have a new Police commisioner on this campus--he is African American, I am hoping he is a big improvement over the woman who was forced out in January. Please God, please don't let us fall into a nation of tribes.
