We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Epistemon, you're my hero of the day. Talk about le mot juste. Ought to be les mots justes, if I remember my French correctly, which I probably don't. But, as one word person to another, I salute you...
Prof Krugman noted a few days ago in the NY Times that should McCain lose, rather than look into itself to find out what they (GOP) had done wrong in theircampaign, they would more than likely instead (1) blame the "liberal media." Or: (2) blame election fraud. and there you go.
In fact, why have so many very conservative papers (:the Chicago Tribune; The Economist etc) endorsed Obama?
In fact, the conservative movement needs to examine how it came to be the party that now stands for large government and huge budget deficit--not the conservative values I recall from but a few years ago.
