Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Monday, November 3. 2008Monday morning linksI will be voting early tomorrow morning, before work. I will be voting for some semi-good Dems and for some semi-good Repubs up and down the ticket. I never expect perfection, ie somebody who entirely agrees with me on everything. Generally speaking, I hold a low view of professional politicians and a far higher view of people who create businesses, create wealth, employ people, and build America. I will be voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin, and I still cannot imagine America electing a Left-winger with radical and anti-American roots as the rest of the world turns more Conservative, but it sure looks like it will happen. Weird, but it's hope that causes people to invest, to gamble, and to buy Orexis. "Hope" is for children. Well, I am known to play a little poker, but I will not gamble with my country. So my own little Presidential vote tomorrow will be a big, hearty, and well-informed The banking crisis of 1836. Yes, government policies caused that one too. McCain was funny with Tina Fey on SNL. Looks like he's having fun. The Top Ten Positive Effects of an Obama Victory A super-quick summary of this endless election. We make such a big deal about it, you'd almost think we were electing a King for Life instead of hiring an employee. Obama supporter thinks Joe the Plumber should be killed. Very tolerant. Coal workers and the coal biz are not too thrilled with Obama's energy plans. But as somebody said, I guess we can import it from China instead... I can hear David Axelrod right now: "Why did you have to say that shit, Barry?" Punishing the rich? Powerline has "Obama's vote to raise taxes on income-earners down to $42,000." But of course: it's called "equality" and "fairness," because if you took risks and worked your butt off to construct a life for yourself and your family, it's really just luck. I am neither rich nor particularly lucky, but I am a cheerful fellow, relatively speaking, and I am more than happy to take responsibility for my path in life. If Obama wins the election, most people doubt there will be any spare money for grand new programs like socialized medicine. But when has lack of money ever stopped a politician? They trust that you will continue to earn it for them. Sowell: Obama is Ego and Mouth. Indeed, at the very least. What is his political character? More on how the hedge funds always support Dems, 2:1. The very rich strongly tend to be Dems in America. I guess you could call them a category of "values Drudge Report beats the New York Times. Drudge is necessary for lurid headlines, but it's not anywhere near as interesting as Maggie's Farm. Bush's bad rap. I still like and respect the fellow enormously, but unfortunately communicating to the public, and selling soap and hope, has never been his strength. Haha. Jerry Nadler isn't helping his guy. The Boston Herald gives you more questions for the money. The greedy, stingy Boston Globe won't give us enough.
I guess they are pissed that politicians cannot guarantee markets. Perhaps people do not understand free markets.

Regarding the chosen one's comments about coal. He says what he says because he believes it, yet I hear him described as particularly intelligent. Nothing but a tyrant in training. He's the man-child...a hoochie-coochie man...the mannish-boy...
I've heard him called an intellectual, intelligent, and gifted. What bunk. That is, he is definitely gifted - at rhetoric that makes him look intellectual and intelligent to those who don't notice the facile way he dodges having to show any intellect or intelligence by giving substantive answers to questions. A phony.
` What is a "semi-good Dem"? If they support Reid or Pelosi, they are no good in my mind.
NOBODY's anywhere near as interesting as Maggie's Farm. :-)
You are absolutely correct !! but i wonder how Maggies farm is going to cope with an Obama reign of terror ??
We're about to find out if the "silent majority" coalition which elected Nixon in 1968 can hold together in numbers sufficient to defeat the same cast of radicals 40 years later. Obama's friends and colleagues take me back to the B U campus of 1965-69, and they are just as wrong for America today as they were 40 years ago. I'll bet there are other Maggie's readers who have also been reminded of their days on radical college campuses of the '60's. If I ever feel the need to be nostalgic about those days I would much rather return to campus than see these nihilists running things down in Washington.
There are some R's who are regarded as reasonably good "public servants" by impartial observers who'll probably be swept out because of the "coattails" phenomenon - a real shame. But the same thing happened to some D's in the last decade.
But I guess that's the price we pay when most humans are ignorant tribalists. And I'll be working the polls tomorrow, starting at 6 am.
It soooo good to see you write this total crap. It shows how desperately ignorant you are. And, after the past eight years, you are clearly someone who should be slapped silly 24 hours a day, just to see if you have any brain at all. Not to mention actual moral convictions.
Your nonesens confirms the total bankruptcy of everything you've believed in. Just look around you. You have been wrong, wrong, wrong. Your greed and narrow self-interest has nearly brought down the nation. And now you are merely laughable. You're dinosaur of casino capitalism, intolerance, and self-dealing. Indeed, we ain't gonna work on "Maggie's Farm" no more -- the country is leaving you behind. Permanently. Thank God. Wow! Some Trolls have rabies. The only question remains - Which came first for aj lenrope - the rabies or the lobotomy?
I just love it when someone takes a steamy dump on all of us ignorant folks with no brains at all. Yet, there is not a single fact used to make his argument.
I guess you can say the trolls have learned well from their master, Obama. He speaks lofty words. However, when one looks for substance, it is like pushing on a string. It's too bad aj doesn't have the lofty rhetoric part down. aj, If you want to see substance behind arguments, you could try reading any number of articles on the issues of the day and posts of mine and many others here. We also have fun on occasion, which is entirely above your pay grade! The real "fun" was seeing John McCain mock himself and his intellectually and morally bankrupt positions on SNL the other night. The Big McJoke of this election now recognizes what a big joke he is, what a big joke he has been, what a big joke conservative Republicanism is, and by implication, what a big joke is the daily "steamy dump" of lies people read on this deliriously brain-dead site. You need to rename this crap "State of Denial."
Speaking of facts -- you might try some on for size sometime. You clearly find facts odious here, and you avoid them like the taxes each of you clearly evades. Even more pitiful: You are fat, dumb, and happy -- content to preach distortions and lies to your sad, deviant choir of robber barons. And I supect the only reason you refer to Orexis in your silly, arrogant, backward rant is because none of you have been able to get it up for decades. How childish aj. You should be embarrassed. Or in bed with your mother drawing up the sheets and telling you good night.
aj, I'm on your side sweetie. Look, if you really want to get under everyone's skin here use at least some facts in your case. I mean, make an argument. The whole "Big McJoke" thing is a little gay. It's okay though, I can feel your frustration. i can imagine the last eight years have been tough and you and all of your girlfriends have been getting all tied in knots when you do that whole group period thing.
Listen, I have friends who are Obama people so I'm sympathetic. One even paid money to have a crystal implanted into his chakra so he could be a Lemurian Gatekeeper for the planet earth, so I understand how mental disabilities get in the way of reasoning through issues can be frustrating for you. But I'm on your side. Don't let anyone tell you you have trouble putting a reasonable defense of you beliefs. You keep trying sweetie, and just feel proud. aj, I'm sorry. I'm thinking I probably made you feel fat with the stuff I said before. Here's a link:
http://tinyurl.com/6kyscw I'll bet this is what you look like inside. God bless you. gawd. I said that before I linked to your picture for AJ.
Okay. I'm not a victim anymore. sheesh.... ` Meta, my darling, you know better than to follow a link like that... Besides, I don't think you felt fat for a minute. You're perfect the way you are, Meta. You know it's true.
