I had a quite enjoyable hunt yesterday. Bagged two Woodcock and missed one grouse in 6 hours of banging through the woods and bogs of upstate NY. Would have been pleased to have put up more grouse, though. This kind of hunting is better termed "off-trail brush-busting with dogs, while burdened with an annoying, increasingly-heavy, and generally-useless piece of pipe which keeps catching on branches while raspberry brambles cut you to bits and alder branches keep knocking your hat off." The piece of pipe I carried was my pretty Abercrombie and Fitch (Rizzini) 20 ga s/s.

OMG! Reading these lines, for the first time this election cycle, I got a chill up my spine (not my leg) and a bit of throw up in my throat. I do not scare easily. I am frightened at this:

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," he said Wednesday. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."

What will be the criteria to join this citizen security force, and what will they be "securing"? Will the IRS agents be the first ones armed under his rule?

The people who vote for Obama are, quite simply, enemies of the Republic. Perhaps Erica Jong was right - perhaps there will be blood in the street. Bring it on!

I like La Shawn Barber's essay. It's very sloppy thinking to define ethnicity by geography, and can lead to such silly designations as I read a few months ago, in an article about Africa, which called the black native Africans African-Americans. 'Political correctness' has destroyed rigorous thinking.

I read a book review on a site last evening which claimed that Amish [a religious affiliation] is an ethnic group, "because the members of the Amish religion had been a closed society for so long." Huh? My anthropology professor would be whirling in his grave. The National Education Association, abetted by all the 60s liberals who 'tuned in, turned off and dropped out' into today's academia have managed in three generations to make American youth stupid, rather than simply inexperienced. Inexperience can be cured by listening and reading and getting older. Stupidity is much harder to cure.

Tiger Woods defines himself as Cablinasian (CAaucasian, BLack, INndian, ASIAN), a mix of the geographic and terminological.

I’ve known a few African-Africans. The Moroccan, the Ethiopian, the Kenyan, and the Gambian were all way different from the others.

He wants a civilian national security force to disarm all those pesky folks clinging to their guns and bibles...This has got to be one of the most revealing statements ever made by a candidate for President...We already have the best military in the world to defend our nation from foreign enemies. As well, we have a dedicated police force and domestic security force in the FBI. So, what is a civilian national securiy force going to do? This guy is looking like the second coming of Malcom X...This could get ugly...

Why do the words "civilian security force" make me think of Gestapo? And SS? And Stasi? Is going to get ugly.

What I fail to comprehend is who, exactly, does Øbama presume will make up the ranks of this civilian national security, or CNS, his personal Democratic Guard? All the metrosexual Pink Boy Somnambulists that I have heard speak his praise are afraid of guns. Will his Brown Shirts be stuffed with bull dykes and Black Panthers, led by those Farakhan Flowers that I read about somewhere?

Canned goods and ammunition... get 'em while you can.

I refuse to get caught up in hysteria and gloom and doom. I think it is all overdone and without substance. Yes... a damn scary thing, what the O said... but I would like much more detail before diving off the deep end.

There are too many Republicans with guns... and law enforcement, military and 'blue dog' democrats for this 'plan' to go very far. This country has not fallen that far in the way that some folks are taking it... far from it. We're better than that. No matter the way media says different.

For now lets just focus on Tuesday... and voting.
