Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Economist: Obama's socialism will wreck the economy. But that's the whole idea, isn't it? To bring down free markets and put politicians in control? Greenspan's testimony yesterday. With luck, the abominable Murtha may go down this year. NYT debt drops to junk. They blame the economy. Do you feel an attack of "non-filer syndrome" coming on? As I recall, NYC Mayor David Dinkins had a bad case of that affliction. William Ayers: A media effort to hide the truth fails, thanks to blogger Patterico. But don't expect to read about it in the LAT. Related: Ayers was back at his bomb throwing as recently as 2006. Can anybody name one decent friend of Obama? The quaint Dutch Death Boat. Holland: famous for tulips and death for young and old. McCain outlines his presidential goals. It's about time. The myth that laissez-faire is responsible for our problems: Reisman. It's a good essay, but provides no populist boob bait. More on Dems wanting to eliminate 401-Ks. Would they dare? What's up with this Obama fundraising? I see that both John Galt and Adolph Hitler have given money. When I gave money to McCain, I had to fill out a form. Much more from Ace. I feel like the whole country is in the middle of a giant con game. The always-grandiose Obama claims a "righteous wind." Good grief. I cannot believe how self-referential this guy is. I guess he refers to God's banking and credit crisis that, thus far, pulled him up out of a hole. More on intelligence and pattern-detection. AVI Academic termites set the stage for Obama. Memo to self: never take political opinions from people who have never worked in the real world. Speaking of the naive and innocent, why young folks should shun Obama, from Viking:
Re Palin, via Surber:
"Rites"? That's clever. I prefer ladies who like to look good. I try to look good, too, on the off-chance that some gal will like me.

re: Obama's righteous wind. Dan Riehl at www.riehlworldview.com points out that the last time Obama felt a righteous wind (his 04 convention speech) it blew in a bunch of swiftboats.
US Constitution
Barack Obama and the End of the Republic By Sher Zieve Thursday, October 23, 2008 Evidence appears to be mounting that strongly indicates Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama is not a natural-born United States citizen, which is required of all who run for the presidency of the USA. Attorney Philip J. Berg filed a lawsuit against Barack Obama and the DNC (Democrat National Committee) on 15 September 2008. Neither Obama nor the DNC have responded to the suit—indicating that they admit the charges brought by Berg are accurate. Even after the filing of the Berg suit, Obama and his campaign have still refused to present a proper certified birth certificate showing that he is a natural-born US citizen. By said lack of response, candidate Obama is admitting that he is not. Thus, Barack Obama is admitting that he is, indeed, Kenyan. But, as he is the Democrat candidate and apparently a true African running for the presidency of the United States of America, he is being allowed to get away with it. Note: It now seems that anyone who questions a non-US citizen Democrat candidate running for POTUS—who is also an African by birth—is “racist.” So, no one is pushing this obvious slap in the face to the US Constitution. Instead, the US Constitution is being ignored, in favor of a Democrat seizing the office of the president of the United States. more: http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/5764 H. - Did you see Stuart Varney this morning connect the dots with Acorn to the GLOBAL financial meltdown? Global. I feel like I'm in another universe that this seems to 'be' under the radar when in fact it is the be all and the end all of high crimes and felonies by the dems.
` Wow! Go to TNJ's link in re Ayers and his bomb throwing as recently as 2006- which then links to Little Green Footballs which then links to Zombie where there is a long essay on Ayers and his dangerous ways based on Ayers Manifesto written with his Weather Underground colleagues. Oh, the romance and poetry of it all!
This is the most devastating indictment yet of Ayers- and by extension, Obama- and should be widely circulated to your friends, business associates, colleagues, et al, especially Obama supporters, and especially to all in the MSM so there are no more lame excuses about not having the facts about Ayers and Obama all laid out in one place for their lazy, negligent asses. All of this needs to be condensed into 30 second spots for the swing states to run starting tonight and every day from now through November 4. This is especially well suited for that flash card format, 10 minute video on the Fannie/Freddie scandal which was so very effective. Time for Paul Revere to mount up and start spreading the word "...Through every Middlesex village and farm, for the country folk to be up and to arm...." Here's a funny double irony from AVI's article on "intelligence":
"patern-recognition" Not only is it ironic to misspell a simple word in an article on 'intelligence', but the word you misspelled is what enables you to find misspelled words in the first place -- pattern recognition! And speaking of irony, consider that on the same day the NYT endorses Obama for president, their stocks are downgraded. It seems hard for the NYT to connect the dots, even where there are only two of them. More PDS, this time from Yahoo News via Reuters...
Mark Steyn had a comment, I believe on NRO, about Obama's extraordinarily high donations, from such folks as Adolph Hitler and Mickey Mouse, the Dallas Cowboys defensive line, and other foreign and probably dead donors. Steyn himself has a contributions software thingie [forgive me, Dr. M. you know my computer skills are slim to none] so he clicked on it and discovered that, like most contributions thingies, quite a few questions have to be answered before the contribution is accepted, things like name, street address, web address, etc. -- the basics of identification to prove the contributor is a real person and not a computer construct. McCain's online contribution connection has all these protective devices in place and activated. Steyn says that Obama's website would have to deliberately turn off each of these protections in order to accept foreign donations and other suspect donations
Apparently, they have ... turned them off, I mean. Marianne Marianne,
I read that yesterday. I think it's called the AVS system thingie. Yes, Obama clicked his off so anyone can donate as many times as they want and with little I.D. Banks hate it because they are ultimately responsible. Companies that insure banks demand the AVS be functioning, but in Obama's case, they know no one will go running to the bank to complain about a strange charge on their account. How vile is that? ` "Memo to self: never take political opinions from people who have never worked in the real world."
A lesson I learned long ago. Even those in the real world have their dangers, but they are usually less grandiose.
