We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's a ten minute video, but use the pause button frequently - this is all fact, and everything was widely reported by the mainstream media, believe it or not.
Wonder why Chuckie Schumer hasn't been rushing to the nearest camera and microphone lately? Doesn't it seem odd that Chris "Countrywide" Dodd and Barney Frank are trying DESPERATELY to divert attention from themselves? These people, whom we elected, created legislature that told banks to make risky loans, or face severe penalties, not including the implicit denouncement in the press.
This really needs to be seen by anyone not drinking the Obama coolaide. If you are drinking it (or, you're a CT RINO), you probably liked those ads that said, " No Credit? No Money Down? No Problem!"
Again, stupid Republicans (or more likely fellow travelers) with a point can't get it across. Why waste time making a "video" that requires one to read text to get a point across? Sure you can pause the damn thing but why bother? The video comes across as someone trying to slip something past you. Stupid.
I think I understand your point. But I think you miss that some people will not read all of the detail. We live in a media world and many, including young people, get their information this way.
I read. I think. I write. Not everyone approaches things the way I do. If this helps, then great.
I am especially concerned about the young people, who don't see what is happening behind the scenes. They will be saddled with a lifetime of higher taxes if Obama is elected.
The Democrats want to take the profits, if any, and give it to groups like ACORN. What a crime! I hope the Republicans don't sign onto any bill that has such horrid provisions. If they do, they are idiots as well.
I work in the financial industry. I could go on for a long-time about the various factors that caused and contributed to this debacle.
A root cause is government and Democratic policy in particular.
CRA and the GSEs created huge distortions that would not have happened in a free market.
And the effort put into this video will only reach those who agree (either through independent thought or through previously established bias) with the point in the first place. Granted, there's no way to know enough to bet on these things but if there was, I'd be more than willing to wager that a lame effort like this convinces not one single voter. Anyone along the lines of what you describe has too short of an attention span to wade into it enough to be convinced of anything. It's so frustrating to see this sort of "marketing" "effort" fail over and over again. I know it's probably not directly tied to McCain's campaign, but it certainly is a metaphor for typical Republican marketing.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are tap-dancing like mad in hopes that curious grown-ups like ourselves won't look up their history far enough back into the 90s to see that the Democrats under Clinton were the ones who loosened the rules so that banks had to begin loaning mortgage money to naive folks who made low incomes but wanted to buy $400,000 houses.
Their bad. And we grown-ups do not belong to the Short Attention Span Society, as most Democrats do. We remember.
