Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I'm waiting for Saturday Nite Live to do a skit on Joe Biden, this weekend. As Bugs Bunny would say " what a maroon".

Me too, jappy. And I'm also waiting for the first McCain/Obama debate on Friday. Can still remember Reagan in one of his presidential debates saying gently "There you go again." Brought down the house, and gave him a big lift in the polls. Humor and gentle ridicule work wonderfully in restoring reason above rhetoric, don't they?

Let's be pratical for a moment.

In spite of all of the Obama baggage including (i) his status as a leading PAC beneficiary from Fannie, (ii) the Johnson and Raines (former Fannie CEOs) relationships, (iii) Penny Pritzker (campaign finance chair and directly linked to the failure of Superior Bank because of sub-prime mortgages), (iv) his misrepresented ties with Bill Ayers (former bomber and Annenburg board colleague), (v) the "I never knew what my pastor Jeremiah Wright said" defense of the racist preacher, (vi) the relationship with felon Tony Rezko, (vii) the inexplicable ability to vote "present" 130 times, (viii) his lack of executive experience (that pales compared to Palin), (ix) his flip-flopping on almost every policy issue, (x) his lack of foreign policy and international experience (unless you include his days in a Muslim school in Indonesia) and (xi) anything you may want to add, Obama is LEADING in the polls.

How do WE help save America from the fate that Obama would bring if elected? How do WE turn a voter towards McCain (in spite of his flaws)?

I have been sending daily notes to family and friends and requesting that they distribute the message to others in hope that the facts get out. (No help from the cheerleading MSM here.)

I have been talking to family, friends, neighbors and acquaintences.

Nevertheless, I am gravely concerned that despite the Obama's and the Democrats connections to the financial mess we are in, that many will mistakenly vote for him as a result.

Any actionable ideas?

Hello? George Bailey, Bailey Savings and Loan? Warren Buffet here. George, in this time of crisis I'm prepared to offer your shareholders 50 cents on the dollar for all their assets. Wha? You'd better reconsider, George, because if you close your doors early today you'll never reaopen them.
