Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I am under 45 years old,

I have the VP spot on the ticket with less than 2 years in the governor's office.

Maybe the McCain/Palin people could work this up into an ad - most folks (myself included) think Teddy was a pretty cool president! It might shut up the Obama idiots!

Which would invite the "I knew Jack Kennedy" response.

There are a few other details about TR's pre-VP life that don't fit the rural populist image. He from a wealthy family, traveled internationally, read French and German, graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, was a published ornithologist, attended but did not finish Columbia Law School, was a NY State Assemblyman, a colonel and regimental commander in the Spanish-American war and an assistant Secretary of the US Navy.

I approve of the Palin pick, however she cannot be compared to Teddy, who had vast experience in the military, commanding regiments, as well as being assistant secretary of the Navy. These qualify as executive experience. Besides, he was governor of New York, not Alaska, which at that time probably rivaled the population Alaska has now.

NY, with a population of 7.6 million in 1900 had greater than ten times the population of present day Alaska.

My point exactly. Executive experience for a government as large as that cannot be considered comparable. Yes, Teddy was young, yes, he was a first term governor, but the similarities end there. Except maybe the hunting part, they seem to share a love of that as well.

You could make the case that raising 5 kids in Alaska is comparable to charging San Juan Hill.

And we don't know how smart she really is yet. Hopefully she is being tutored at high velocity because she will have to be better than good at the debate. Good news is Biden is a hot air ballon ready to explode.
I suppose the South American situation will be discussed considering Bolivia is on brink of civil war and three American ambassadors were expelled-Venezuela, Bolivia and Honduras(not allowed to enter) then there is the Yeman attack at the embassy and the Pakistan issue. I sure as hell don't want Obama in charge!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Teddy was in to eugenics. If thats the case I'd say Sara was one up on him in the area of the sanctity of life.
