Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Hahahahahaha... I liked that guy. Not necessarily for what he said but for how he said it. But I'm not gonna send him money.
I am Yvonne's, Brenda "Boo's" daughter's friend. Do you recall either one of them. Let me know.
I've watched some of his other videos. Sometimes he does, er, seem to go a little 'over the top'. I've noticed too that the amount of 'political content' in some of these black churches seems to far exceed what I'm used to . Taken all in all, he seems more on the side of the angels, than the devils, but I don't commit myself, not knowing what might come tumbling out of the closet. Utube has a treasure trove of Rev. Manning. His latest target is Harlem Congressman Charles B. Rangel, who seems to be having some trouble with the IRS, which, I think, is his committee in Congress. Ol' Charlie's a crook from day one, but likeable.
That "trash" commenting is just unacceptable to me. He didn't know Obama's mother, he has no right to call her that. Even with significant supporting evidence (I don't know where you'd get it), I would refuse that judgment. People do dumb things for all kinds of reasons.
He's trying to make a point #4. Why can't you see that. I'll tell you why. You are just like her, a liberal.
Liberals are blind to the Truth and don't want the Truth and can't handle the Truth. You can't handle the Truth because of yourself. Stick that in your pipe... Oh I bet he's rich on Rangel, Bob. He's got something to work with there, for sure.
I found fun just in watching him try to maintain his composure. Which, sure, he goes a little 'over the top' but for the most part I think he provided lively entertainment in that clip. My first exposure to him I might add. Though I admit, I enjoyed his take down on the hypocrisy of the MSM. I agree on the 'trash' comment AVI... but I do believe he was honest in saying he got it from his momma and her momma. Back in the 50's, right or wrong, that's pretty much how it was perceived, by both sides of the equation. "trashiest thing, trashiest thing since... since...since the Staaten Island Land Fill!"
:) I smile at the image. "so, so, there you have it." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynSI-R2PAUw&NR=1
"Where is Michelle "Fist Bumpin' " Obama?" More Manning, :), and the question is a good one today too, post convention, she wasn't at the Ground Zero ceremonies. Where, o where, is fist bumpin' Michelle? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uVy46JaFXmo
Manning making sense on letting go. That "trash" commenting is just unacceptable to me.
Same here, that's when I turned it off. That sort of stuff is ugly no matter which side it comes from. I agree with Assistant Village Idiot who writes: "That "trash" commenting is just unacceptable to me. He didn't know Obama's mother, he has no right to call her that."
I really like this site but I don't think that Bird Dog should have put this video up. We want to not be like the intolerant Left, but the guy in this video is just nasty. And his comments about Obama's mother seem to have been derived from him not liking white women having sex with black men. If that was a white guy saying that about a black woman - that would be called racist. Shouldn't the opposite be true too? He's talking to a mostly black audience, for what it's worth. Different rules seem to apply.
Look at it this way. Would you rather listen to Manning, or Barbara Walters?
While I chuckled while watching this, and it was fun watching the "One" get raked over the coals for once, and by a black man at that, I don't think it is appropriate for your site. As Dan Morgan put it in comment #11, this really is racist.
Also, for what it's worth, I found an article that had Stanley Ann Dunham's birth date as well as Barack Obama's, and I did the math - she was 17, unmarried, and a first semester freshman in college when she got pregnant with the "One" so the Obama folks ought to lay off Bristol Palin! I did consider not posting it here, but thought it might provoke some discussion. And it did. I see nothing racist about it at all, just very poor taste on Manning's part.
I'm outraged and beside myself. How disappointing that you posted this BD. This is too low for Maggies Farm. Well actually, I loved it. MSNBC should put this guy on as counterpoint for Keith Overbite. They have about the same tone and demeanor only from opposite perspectives.
Well, it has a racist potential, illustrating what fools blacks are.
It would have a political point if you added a Justice Thomas clip for comparison, implying which one do you want to emulate as a pointed question to whom it might concern. That was some kinda breakfast treat... better than Obama Waffles...
I'm glad you posted it...
It's hilarious. Manning is preaching to the choir with a fight fire with fire approach. I don't think it's effective in terms of converting people to your point of view, but it is a biting parody of the left's assault on a Bristol Palin. The media and bloggers took off their gloves and were slapping this girl around so Manning offered up an emotional retort. Look, Obama washes his hands of this taking the higher ground by asking politey for people to leave Bristol alone. Bullsh*t! He should have taken a much firmer stance, but why would he rein in his henchmen? When he offered up that lipstick on a pig comment he showed us his true character: He's a brawler. A spoiled brawler. And Manning knows that... Twenty years in a church that screams "God damn America" and he knows a thing or two about spewing vitriol. Manning knows that... And he's answering in kind. Irony, satire, parody are fine as long as there is no element of deep cynicism to it. I saw no cynicism in this video. Manning is taking on the media and mirroring their 'trashy' behavior. Lighten up with the racism crap.
I don't know Manning, but there's no trace of satire in sight. He's the same as Rev. Wright, and seems equally earnest, as far as the video is concerned.
Maybe he needs to restate the argument if he wants to be understood differently. He wasn't being literal when he painted the children of all media as homosexual drug addicts. He was basically asking how the media would like the same treatment. He was mocking the media and their chosen one.
My Name is Felix Robinson and I don't like what Rev.Manning is doing, which I think is for money.
I am ashamed of his behavior, because I know him much better than this. His real name is Albert Griffin, Born in Birmingham,Alabama. We grew up as neighbors and became lovers by the age of 17years. He is open minded and was my "Down Low Lover' until we were about 28 years old., so please forgive him, this is not the Albert Griffin that I know. Love Felix |
