We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Nice. You have a good eye. I still say (as I have for a couple of years now) you should get a better camera. Try the new Nikon d90 (hard to get still). Consumer version of the d300, and 1000 instead of 1650. With a tamron 17 50, a nikon 50mm f1.8, and the nikon 70 300 image stabilised to try for the birds, you would have a great starter system for close to 2000. The Nikon lenses are better, and I swear by my Nikon 70 200 but your cheapskate soul er frugal nature would go into cardiac arrest at the cost of an ideal Nikon starter system. Or you could just get the Canon xsi discounted from New Egg at around 699 including an 18-55 image stabilized lens (may have a stat or two slightly off). The colors will be a little washed out and always slightly off, but a lot cheaper. Personally, I believe Nikon colors run truer (when photographing New England landscapes myself) but that 's just my biased view...
A "tamron" my Sweet Aunt Fanny! What you need is a "tampon"! .45 caliber at about 4,500 FPS! What the frick happened to the Maggie's Farm I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go anywhere on the cape but Wellfleet we might get put into no-butt chaps in a Parade in Provincetown and passed around like a bowl of poppers and wake up next to Andrew Sullivan with a smile on his face and a thin sheen of oil on his forearm." Well just kiss my grits from now on, Dog! Not me! I'm not gonna take these crappy photos, these third-rate postcards with the cornball pond reflecting the sky reflecting the pond. All of the Farmers gotta go now. Not just Dog. Wormer, he's a dead man! News Junkie, dead! Barrister, dead! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer... Dead!
