Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I hope for a pony

Gateway found this Move On ad for Obama. Hope. It could happen to you.

Do they think I am 6 years old? I hope for a pretty pony, and $50 million in cash, unmarked bills.

What a piece of shit ad. I hope they play it lots. Jephnol got it right. They are a bunch of bird-brain liberal weenies. They got their hope back. This hope is an abstaction without any substance or specifics. Why did they lose hope for the past 8 yrs? The big bad W took away their hope. Garbage. If people like this get control of the country, we are screwed. The lunatics will be running the asylum.

The thing is, the Public Education System in this country has been so bad for so long that there are a lot of uneducated idiots in this country now...

Think about your hope (wish), $50M, in bills? The largest denomination in US currency is the $100 bill. $50M is 500,000 of them. How would you deal with them? Where would you put them? If you show up at your bank with them, you will be talking with Federal agents in short order. (See your post on never talking to the police.) Better to wish for an AmEx card with someone else magically paying it off for you each month.
