Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Orson Card on Obama

A quote from his Obama's Real Religion:

...what troubles me most is what he said... while campaigning in Oregon: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK."

"That's not leadership," Obama declared. "That's not going to happen."

What's not going to happen? Us continuing to drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes at 72 degrees? Or other nations saying OK?

We already know, from Obama's comments at a private meeting with big-pocket donors in San Francisco, that he's an elitist who sneers at the common people who cling to religion and guns because they're bitter about job losses twenty years ago.

But what this statement reveals is that Obama's real religion has nothing to do with Reverend Wright.

Obama is a true believer in the religion of Environmentalism.

Well, I don't know. You never know whether pols believe in anything or not - except in their own advancement. In any event, he is, at the least, pretending to drink the Kool-Aid. Or will they ban Kool-Aid, and make us all drink organic Chardonnay?

To raise taxes, ban pickups, mandate a diet, call for shivering and sweating, send money overseas to end poverty, gut the military, support men marrying men, outlaw guns, and curtail industry because of 'warming' doesn't sound like a winner to me. If we elect this guy, we've lost our collective minds.

Obama may believe in the religion of environmentalism. But he also believes, perhaps even more so, in the religion of narcissism, which enables the religion of environmentalism and gives it its bite.

We haven't lost our minds- we've lost the ability to compare history with the present, we've lost logic, we've lost macho, we've lost a lot and it shows.

Young people, and the old people in kids clothing that inhabit this town, have no connection to anything positive. They are told every day: Earth is dying, Bush is lying, up is down, right is wrong, perverts are the truly enlightened. Go follow a path that is unproven and dangerous. Anything male pale and stale needs be purged. Oh yeah, and hate the rich, love the government, hate cars, love the bus, hate hetero, love queer, hate victory, love failure. And so on.

Hate USA, love any socialist dictator. I guess that's the crux isn't it? Some people long for FEARLESS LEADER. They want their own Castro, or Chavez, or Stalin, or Mao. When the "world" loves us again (only the world run by dictators- and I include the EU on that list 'dictator lite' as it were) we won't feel so guilty.

Obama is their dictator thug. They expect him to be such. After all, Bush was Hitler and almost killed all of us with wiretaps and death camps. You think I am kidding. They believe this stuff.

Like I said- brain no worky anymore. Better hope more people with brains vote than those without.

Phil, there are more people without brains that vote, and they seem to vote more than once. They are addicted to the welfare state, and heres the big one; their out breeding the people with brains that do vote. What a sorry state we are in as a nation.

We have a nice but thoroughly moonbatty friend who went to DC for a conference during which she said her group was scheduled to have "an audience with Patty Murray."

It is this quasi-religious Peronist cult of personality among the left, reinforced by the MSM, that America really has to watch.

I think that approval from his arts & humanities tribe, at home and abroad, is the religion. Environmentalism is in that catechism, but it's not the whole show. Socialism, belief in words over deeds, and group rather than individual responsibility are also in its creed.

Hopefully Obama's run for the White House
(and humiliating defeat) will finally put an end to the
'Set-aside' & and 'Affirmative Action' mind-set that has been allowed to run amuck in since 1964.
