Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

One sane Democrat

We disagree with CT Sen. Joe Lieberman on many, if not most issues, but we give him kudos for this. Our thanks to CT for re-electing this good guy.

Very little seems to frighten Sen. Lieberman. He reminds me a little of Sen Daniel Patrick Moynihan. He's too smart for the rest of the Democrats and he makes them nervous, as Pat Moynihan did. Brains are not common in the ranks of either party, but very rare in the party of the Left.

Distinguishing your friends from your enemies is where wild animals fail as pets.

Your wolf may love you, but you can't trust his judgment about guests.

A dog gets it right.

Making sense of human activity is what domestic animals can do that wild animals cannot.

Not making sense of human institutions is also a connection to childishness.
