Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, May 16. 2008Onward Christian Soldiers? The words on this KY campaign flier read:
In a way, I have no big problem with those words (although how one can even attempt to discern God's use for you without tons of prayer and a worshipful heart is beyond me). However, I thought it was a big problem that Bush was inspired by his faith. Somehow this guys' wanting to do his version of God's work to me is apparently no problem. What's up with that? Doesn't this kind of thing raise urgent Church-State concerns for the Lefties? Or is he just trying to reinforce the idea that he isn't a Moslem? In my opinion, nobody has the right to claim that they are doing God's work. That is hubris. Somebody else can say it about you, though, which is a great compliment. (h/t, Insty)

I'm going to wind up in a snaitarium, with diapers on sucking my thumb looking at flash cards, if this jamoke becomes President.
Well, if you were following the news re Obama's church you would remember that he was taught Black Liberation Theology. One of its principles is that the god of the black cannot be the god of the White; for no true god would do good to the White man.
With that in mind, all Obama's words are mere god-words. To enter into the conversation thinking he is Christian is to have already been deceived. And think further: if "no true god would do good to the White man "no true god would do good to the White man", what would a real man of god do to the White? imagine that campaign poster coming from Bush -- as it is, but Bush instead of Obama. It would get hooted and hollered down. But, Obama can use it. Why is that? Is the MSM in on a ''fool the rubes'' ploy?
Black Liberation Theology is Islamic.
Hussein thinks Muhammad's allah-god, is God. Muslim don't worship the God and Father of Jesus Christ. Whoever knows the Old and New Testaments, and then reads the Koran, clearly sees the process by which it completely reduces Divine Revelation. It is impossible not to note the movement away from what God said about Himself, first in the Old Testament through the Prophets, and then finally in the New Testament through His Son. In Islam all the richness of God's self-revelation, which constitutes the heritage of the Old and New Testaments, has definitely been set aside. Some of the most beautiful names in the human language are given to the God of the Koran, but He is ultimately a God outside of the world, a God who is only Majesty, never Emmanuel, God-with-us. Islam is not a religion of redemption. There is no room for the Cross and the Resurrection. Jesus is mentioned, but only as a prophet who prepares for the last prophet, Muhammad. There is also mention of Mary, His Virgin Mother, but the tragedy of redemption is completely absent. For this reason not only the theology but also the anthropology of Islam is very distant from Christianity. Pope John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, Muhammad? no redemption, no interaction, no wrestling with God or conscience, no nothing. Zero (zero said to be araby's contribution to mathmatics). a howling desert wilderness where we are to submit and die in thoughtless silence. death before death.
QUOTE: In my opinion, nobody has the right to claim that they are doing God's work. That is hubris. Somebody else can say it about you, though, which is a great compliment. Not quite a QQQ, but nicely put. I also liked the snappy title for the article. I think I'd contend at this point in time that the word "Christian" has about as much meaning and import as the terms "all-natural" and "heavy-duty". Severely diluted, that is. But perhaps more to the point, there's the association with the word that's become so queasy. If someone had asked me ten years ago whether or not I was a "Christian", I would have responded, "Of course!" Then I read articles like this. If somebody asked me today, I'd probably reply, "No, thanks, I'm an Independent!" @Doc Merc
Yeah, it does drive one nuts to realize that American Christians may be no better than savages when it comes to art; and I am an artist as well as Christian. I think, sometimes, that the only art the A.C. appreciates is found on paper currency. I think before one can state his purpose is to do God's work, they would have to know what that work is. Then there is commentary that it is hubris to claim to know how God wants to use you.
First of all, what is God's work? My God people, get a grip...So Obama has said something that we all agree with and we're going to find fault with the man? Jesus H. Tapdancing...never mind...What conservative should be doing is seizing this opportunity to amplify what Obama has said and emphasize that this is what GWB and many (many) others have been saying for years. In a way, this is a response to the likes of Rev. Wright and the culture of wallowing in being a victim and not taking any responsibility. Is it any wonder conservatives are such losers, they can't even recognize where they're winning...
Obama is in a state of apostasy according to the hadith and Quran.
The penalty is death in Islam. They're cutting him some slack because he's got a run going and has for a while. The Islams intend to use our laws to get their nose under the tent and then the entire camel and then proceed to out birth us on our dollar. I say nuke a few hundred million NOW. BTW did anyone catch the amounts of money the Arab countries give to the UN for relief efforts? Saudia Arabia was ZERO ..most others were pennies....nice folks The USA gives huge amounts, which we should stop immediately. wait -- internal contradiction -- term you taught us -- if we are better for our giving than those who give nothing, then why should we give nothing too?
H:
Please lay off on the "nuke em" nonsense. Your dark humor could be lost on some folks... awww, c'mon, Buck -- that's not how to win the election --
