We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Race in the Race

Race is obviously a factor in voting, since most blacks in the US vote Dem, and over 90% of Dem primary voters are voting for Obama (which demonstrates something you could call racism but which, I think, is better described as "tribalism").

I believe that there are plenty of good reasons not to vote for Obama in the general election, but skin color is not one of them. But is it a factor for white Dem primary voters, and for white voters in general?

I stopped reading the TNR piece at the first paragraph when he indicated only the Republicans used race.

Tribalism, now thats a word I like. It's so PC incorrect, more aggressive, and barbaric than using the bland word race. I can finally admitt that I am from the Fa Cow Wee Tribe.

The "We Are the World" coke commercial of years gone by was a fantasy.

Race will always play a significant role in the world. It has for the history of mankind and there is nothing other than what will end up as an historical footnote to that history..PCism.

Obama's chances in the general election are not good. Which is good.

what a race. it's about race? Then it's a race race. Odd that the same word is used for the type of contest, and for the genetic classification. Hmmm. is that a hint? If so, who the is staging the contest? Gotta be them Greek gods -- sounds just like 'em.

My son says Mabus is known as "Black Frankenstein" in his circles because of his resemblance to Mad TV and Dave Chappelle parodies of Blacksploitation flicks.

I look forward to the Mabus hangover once he is finally discredited and defeated. But then there will be those who leave the bumperstickers in place for the life of their vehicle. I still see Kerry/Edwards stickers driving around.

For some reason I NEVER see Gore/Lieberman stickers, could it be that Democrats, er, uh, progressives don't like Jews? Makes about as much sense as the Mabus race kerfuffle.

Well you reminded me- Isn't Lieberman in favor of the WOT? He's a NeoCon alright. (the progressive word for hawkish JEWS)

Them stickers didn't last long past March of '03. The D next to his name doesn't mean much to the "dimmitude at all costs" crowd.

Think Vanderleun might be correct on this one. Any day now, Hillary is going to get called a racist by her own side. Or a redneck. Might as well drink shots with a beer chaser.

And Obama is going to wrap himself in flags.

55 to 1 ratio. 55 to 1 ratio.

That is the ratio of Americans to Israelis. Fox news, although it could be anyone, is reporting a rocket attack on a shopping mall that injured, so far, 14 Israeli's ..that would be 776 Americans.

I for one will be a happy man to see several hundred million Muslims killed off..wiped out completely .
I'm not a Jew but for sixty years the Jews have endured attacks by EVERY Arab nation in the ME.

A bus is blown up by a suicide bomber killing 25. That would be 1,350 Americans blown up. How long would we put up with that and yet it goes on and on in Israel.

Iran has vowed to wipe out the Jews. The Arabs sided with Hitler in WWII to kill the Jews.

Islam and Muslims are people of death and conquest by the sword. They should be liquidated at a proportion equal to what they have inflicted on the world, much less the Jews.

55 to 1....just think about a bomb killing a hundred Jews. That would be 5,500 Americans or twice what we lost on 9-11 or the 2,350 we lost at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked.

Kill Muslims in proportionate numbers. For every Jew killed 121 Muslims must die....there are 1.61 billion Muslims worldwide and only 13.3 million Jews...lets even things up a bit.

I don't doubt the anecdotes of the Obama supporters, but I would rather see some hard numbers.
