We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A car gets a flat on the interstate one day. The blonde driver eases it over onto the shoulder of the road, carefully steps out of the car and opens the trunk. She takes out two cardboard men, unfolds them and stands them at the rear of the vehicle facing oncoming traffic.
The lifelike cardboard men are in trench coats exposing their nude bodies and private parts to approaching drivers. Not surprisingly, the traffic becomes snarled and backed up.
It isn't very long before a police car arrives. The officer, clearly enraged, approaches the blonde of the disabled vehicle yelling, "What's going on here?"
"My car broke down, officer" says the woman calmly.
"Well, what the heck are these obscene cardboard pictures doing here by the road?" he asks.
"Helllooooooo!!!!" says the blonde. "Those are my emergency flashers!"
Fun post, BD. The gang at MST3K were truly the snarkmasters of their day.
While there were a number of cultural traits on display, not the least of which was the roles of the females, I found it interesting that the father was always the informal "dad", whereas the mom was always the formal "mother", never "the mom".
The next question is why it was titled, "I'm Dating a Negro" when that was just a throwaway line by one of the MST3K gang? Why did the blogger fixate on that one line?
BTW, did you read the comments? Apparently, the regular blogger's on vacation and a couple of people were bitching about it, pointing out that the MSM didn't take vacations. Good response:
"Yeah, it's a friggin' outrage. Demand your money back."
Respect for others and good manners would seem corny in todays culture. Then again, it may have been just the presentation was corny. After all doesn't multiculturalism and tolerance just mean respect for others. Oops, a liberal brain fart.
