We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The Clintons' entire approach to this campaign season was based on learning the wrong lessons from their political history. They survived the Lewinsky imbroglio, the pardons scandal, and the theft of White House gifts and assumed they were bulletproof. They confused our forgiveness with gullibility and came to feel that they could get away with anything. When Hillary won her Senate seat in New York, after Giuliani dropped out and Lazio could offer only nominal opposition, she believed she could sell voters any kind of chimera and they would fall for it.
"Finally, someone in the MSM admits: No current global warming"
With that "finally" and Surber's "article", do I presume that both of you thought the UN report was GOOD news? Didn't you even read it?
From my article on it:
"What the article does is soothe those "some" people who think that global warming isn't real just because the globe hasn't warmed in a mere decade. As it turns out, it's those darn El Niño and La Niña currents that have been screwing everything up, and, once they get back to a normal cycle, the global temperature will continue to rise to the point of, presumably, combustibility."
Get it? The UN is pointing out that the last ten years of non-warming have been an anomaly . That sound like "good news" to you guys?
And Surber concludes:
"Look at the Sun. It heats the planet. I don’t need a scientific consensus to prove that."
It would be hard to imagine a more simplistic and utterly worthless summation than that. Stick to politics, Don, and quit insulting our intelligence.
BTW, that Colorado article shouldn't surprise anyone. As we continue our ever-downward spiral into the realm of Political Correctness, it's been obvious for some time now that satire will be the next battle front.
A reliable source has told me that the tv report also showed the story of a 4 yr old boy: he had run up to hug his teacher and planted his little head between her breasts:he also now has a police record.
Something went wrong with the feminist revolution:what the h---- happened?
That's 'what' happened, but the real question is 'how' it happened. I think it boiled down to meetings, to a decade of plenary sessions everywhere a feminist group formed.
What happened in these meetings was, the Marxists were always better prepared -- they were trained to take over meetings -- Alinsky wrote extensively on 'how to take over a meeting', as did Lenin and many others.
If they need to use brute nasty behavior, screaming and acting ugly and so forth in order to get the resolutions they want, they do it. The moderates in the meeting are simply not playing by the same rules. They can't -- the rules are part of the philosophy, and a moderate can't follow suit and remain a moderate. Marxism intends to make you fervent either as a fellow traveler or an equally useful 'enemy of the people' -- by any means necessary.
Barry Goldwater was trying to get at this problem when he made the famous comment (the comment that caused the left to promptly feign horror and then relentlessly ridicule):
''Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.''
