Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Spring Fishing

The Spring fishing season is coming on fast. It's about time to exchange our Currier and Ives "Maple Sugaring" picture, up on top, for "The Trout Pool." That picture does look like our Berkshire Hills, but it could also be the Poconos or the Adirondacks.

That guy's about got his limit. I was thinking about going over my gear, oiling up the fly reels and such. Guess I'll have to rethink my outfit too, didn't realize I needed a tie.

Suggestions please: best quality waders. The kind you can order with custom sized boots, etc.

I should be able to answer that, Apple Pie, but I can't, caused I've never used them. Wear golf shoes, or something with little cleats, and take a ski pole, that's the ticket, so's you don't slip on the rocks.

With waders there's always the chance, if you have your belt too tight, and didn't get the air out of the waders, that if you fall in, you'll find yourself floating downstream, feet up, getting a good close up look at the rocks at the bottom of the stream.

I always wear a bowtie, as well :)

Cabela, Bean's or Bass should put you in some nice waders. Come to think of it, a tie would be handy to hang flies on. I get tired of dropping my flybox in the river.
