Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

After some shuteye I'll finish the first person , on the spot dope on the shuttle launch..Just a few teaser highlights.

Drove a round trip total of 320 miles.

Spent $150 bucks on the tickets to sit on a grassy knoll.

Arrived at Cape C at 1830 ...launch was next AM at 0228..so 8 plus hours in the dark with mosquitos.

Cloud cover moves in one hour before launch ...see the shuttle for a TOTAL TIME of 3-4 seconds before it disappeared in the clouds.

Took 2 hours to get out of the parking lot.

While I sleep practice this.

Hold your right arm out in front of you and separate your thumb and forefinger approximately an inch apart. Note the separation. That represents the "window" of opportunity my wife and I and another 25,000 people had to see the the shuttle fly before it was totally obscured. We were 4 miles away which is as close as you can get.


Ya want some irony...here's irony,,it's trajectory took almost directly over my home in Orange Park where it was crystal clear.

Hey, ya gotta take risks right? I mean am I right?

It can regulate ketchup, but in so many other areas, it just doesn't cut the mustard.
