Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Tuesday, March 4. 2008Tuesday Morning Links and a "Howdy" to Digg readers
Can you dig it? The blog has been a little shaky because we were "Digged" last evening. We weren't prepared for that kind of volume, which was up to a dizzying peak of 15,000 visits/hour. It's interesting to see that Digg has a world-wide reach. A hearty "Howdy" to any Digg readers who explore Maggie's beyond that one linked piece (the bear release mishap).

Politics as religion: neoneo.....
I have noticed a ebbing of the tide, ever so slight which is good. My hope is that it's momentum is increased by magnitudes before November. The ebbing tide is the medias focus on what a windbag Obama really is. Sure the masses are behind the curve but one would expect that. Article after article is now beginning to question just what, if anything, is behind the shine. I've said all along the guy is a poseur. He may win the Democratic nomination, but lets just see how he withstands the swift boating he's in for. Someone help me out here .. is being digged a good thing or a bad thing?
Signed, End user of moderate ability and knowledge. I guess it's good to get linked by the mega-linking sites, if we get a some new regular readers from it. It's one of the ways people discover new interesting sites.
BD,
Do you think the new readers realize we all clogg and wear lederhosen on occasion? Well if ulu late to the outhouse then remember...don't eat the yellow snow.
Plus a decent ululator would only use the acoustics at the local Burger King, perched on the throne.

Who speaks for Islam ?
Needless to say I haven't read the entire Gallop survey of the 1.3 billion Islams. I don't intend to and here's why. In the physical and metaphysical world there are certain elements that are immiscible, they just don't go together, and NEVER will. Christianity and Islam are two of those that will never fit. I needn't go into depth for most of the MF'ers are well aware of the marked differences. I also have a picture on my desk. It's a hazy black and white of the facade carcass of the World Trade Center. It is a devastating photo of the irreconcilable nature of one civilized country and one mired in another epoch, one more insane. I need little else to mark who my enemy is. Gallop wasted a lot of time and money. Doing the math. One point three billion Muslims of which 7% are radical or easily converted to that mode. That's 91,000,000 Muslims willing to war on us Need I say more? I have from time to time mentione Eustice MUllins, Ezra Pound and the fraud that is the Federal Reserve System.
Well I just looked at the DIGG from yesterday and one of them was on the same subject. Most of the presentations are long-ish, 50 minutes or so but worth the knowledge. Here is an address to many of the ones mentioned in the DIGG. http://tinyurl.com/2zatk8 OBAMA TANGLES WITH THE PRESS
(let's see if the MSM really brings the heat) SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Led by the Chicago press corps that has covered Obama for years, the candidate today faced a barrage of questions in what turned out to be a contentious news conference. Questions centered on why his campaign had denied that a meeting occurred between his chief economic advisor and Canadian officials as well as questions on his relationship with Tony Rezko, a Chicago land developer and fast food magnate, now on trial for corruption charges. lots more, oh goody, did I tell ya http://tinyurl.com/24e8ay 80-20 rule applies. 20% of GOP is crooked, 80% of Dems are crooked.
Your reference to the Pareto principle... are you saying that 20% of Republicans are responsible for 80% of Democrats?
The man who created that principle, the 80-20 rule died recently, his name was Joseph Juran, a Romanian immigrant who's works in quality control revolutionized manufacturing in this country, and places like Japan. His books "Quality Control Handbook" and "Managerial Breakthrough" inspired Six Sigma and lean manufacturing thinking. Truly a page right out of the American promise. Send us your best, we'll do the rest. The rule originally stated: 80% of consequences stem from 20% of causes. Ask Tough Questions? Yes, They Can! WaPo Go !
The day before primaries in Ohio and Texas that could effectively seal the Democratic presidential nomination for him, a smiling Obama strode out to a news conference at a veterans facility here. But the grin was quickly replaced by the surprised look of a man bitten by his own dog. Even the WaPo is doing it. more http://tinyurl.com/2v49qf Obama: Arab-American Families Being Rounded Up ?
Senator Obama holds a wretched America in his heart, a country he has no pride in nor wishes to preserve. If his vision starts from failure, where will it end? There is no truth in his words, just as there is no substance. One may speak well, but still speak lies. An Obama presidency would be a disaster.\ The function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil. - Cicero more http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/03/obama_arabamerican_families_be.html Hussein is eating to much sushi, me thinks.
But the idea of rounding up Arab and Muslim in America is a good one. Think of all the white folks we could kick out to the street (not Lord Black, please, thank you) for to make room for Hussein and his old lady. Recently I have read a number of articles on the English and Australians disarming their populations. I have also read a good many articles on the Federal Reserve and ,in part, how in 1933 FDR decreed ownership of gold no longer legal.
My thought has consistently turned to the question of why those populations complied with those edicts? To replace personal protection and hunting arms for a police investigation of your death and the clubbing of a rabbit. To replace an historically highly valued metal for fiat currency? It makes no sense. Why did those populations comply ? The police do not have the manpower to enforce those laws. They couldn't enforce the Eighteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, prohibition. Yes I am familiar with Plato through J.S. Lockes's thoughts on distributive justice but even it has major limitations. Do not comply to laws that violate the Bill or Rights or the fiat edicts that bypass the legislative process, and even then beware. Constantly test them against good judgment and the will of the people. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Dylan Thomas The Second Battle of NAFTA
For to blue-collar workers in industrial states like Ohio, NAFTA is a code word for betrayal -- a sellout of them and their families to CEOs panting to move production out of the United States to cheap-labor countries like Mexico and China. Our workers' instincts are backed up by stats. In 2007, the U.S. trade deficit with Mexico soared 16 percent to $73 billion, a record. Mexico now ships more cars to us now than we ship to the world. And where did Mexico get an auto industry? The U.S. trade deficit with China shot up 10 percent to $256 billion, the largest trade deficit ever between any two countries. Charles MacMillion of MBG Services has run the numbers. In manufactures, the United States had a trade deficit of $499 billion in 2007, a slight improvement over the $526 billion record in 2006. Yet that trade deficit in manufactured goods with the world is more than twice as large as our $224 billion bill for OPEC's oil. Under Bush, the U.S. trade deficit has doubled. Three million manufacturing jobs have vanished. And America has begun to run a trade deficit in advanced technology goods of more than $50 billion. (more) http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=25318 RE; NAFTA:
The Dems want America to break a signed trade agreement and reopen the negotiations with Canada, not China. Meanwhile, Obama wants to sit down and talk with North Korea, Iran, Cuba and venezuela. Wha? Who would believe any agreement signed with America would be honored? How will that help the Dems reinstate Americas standing and reputation in the world? But really, am not surprised to see the Democrats throw Canada under the bus. It illustrates very nicely what left wingers will do to win. After all, Canadians are only Americas next door neighbors, friends, family, business partners, allies. They are good enough to die next to Americans in Afghanistan,(the good war, according to the Dems) but not good enough to trade freely with, even though the oil and gas industry is heavily integrated and tied to that trade agreement. Also since when does Canada NOT meet strict environmental and labor laws? It is baloney, served with hubris and Canadian Liberals, left wingers and presstitutes will eat it up too. Divide and conquer. This time though, me thinks (hopes) it is the left that is divided. But one problem with a Dem tie in Texas and Ohio is the fight for the Dem nomination will dominate the news for a long time and McCain will have a much harder time being heard. It will be all Hillary and Obama all the time. Here is a so called 'commentary' from Forbes on NAFTA that never even mentions Canada. Truly Amazing. I guess it is just more proof of why some people really should not vote. The freedom to not vote is indeed a right and must be defended. heh
Commentary Why Do They Say These Things? Michael E. Marks http://www.forbes.com/home/opinions/2008/03/03/nafta-presidency-primaries-oped-cx_mem_0304nafta.html Also want to say thanks to Dr. X for his comments on yesterdays post re: the Conrad Black trial. Helped me understand the legal perspective some. My only comment is, I have seen noncompete clauses included in selling a business (i.e.small business). The ones I have seen are against the person, not just a company, because a company is often only as good as the person who runs it. Is my understanding that the noncompete clause would stop Conrad Black from competing by opening a new and different business, not Hollinger, so it was personal. Several million dollars might be considered cheap, if it kept Lord Black from doing that. Would probably hate to have him as my competition if I was in the newspaper biz.
prisons are gender segregated, Patina.
So, don't think y'all have to worry about competing with Lord Black. He won't be in prison long but hopefully he'll loose some sleep. That won't repay his debt but inside or outside money rules. Who speaks for Islam and what Muslims think is irrelevant to the thrust of the war.
Whoever amongst them does either, and that is questionable, it is a lie based upon the lie of the false prohet Muhammad and the Quran. Totalarian enemies must be defeated totally or they will rule your corner. Read up on Digg:
http://slate.com/id/2184487 http://tinyurl.com/yrua7c re: Most people shouldn't vote.
I'm reminded of this anecdote of Father Rutler over at National Review. When asked if killing a mouse was moral: Dd you measure the mouse's height? Was it taller than you or the other women in the office? Again, I expect not. Why were the women hysterical? Think of the little mouse confronted by several screaming women whose voices must have sounded to the little creature like cyclones and whose height must have seemed like tall buildings threatening to crash down upon it. Methinks the mouse should have been screaming instead of you. Indeed, it probably was in its own squeaking little way and its heart, which Jesus loves, must have been beating painfully within its fragile breast. This is but one more reason I think females should not be allowed to vote in general elections or hold public office. |
