We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Jim Jones Obama-- there is an eerie similarity between those two. Jim was a socialist and promised he would take care of the downtrodden. It is a cult happening. Boy, Americans can be just as dumb as the rest of "them."

I suppose I'll die not understanding what it is that drives certain folks so far from reality. Folks such as opie mentions... what is it that is so horrible in this country that leads folks to such delusional behavior. I know, it has been explained here many times the more concrete reasons. But, for me, there seems to be a missing piece... something more basic to human nature. Some Maslow level as yet undiscovered or named... like a word that's on the tip of the tongue.

I like the BHO video. I mean, you know, it had a catchy tune and you could sway rhythmically to it. But I'd like to change a couple of the lyrics to give it more substance. Change O-Bam-Aa with Fish-and-chips. Are you feeling me?

Obama's day is coming. Tony Rezko is going to trial Monday and Obama will come up in a sweetheart deal concerning a land deal. And then there's Michael Bauer.....

Obama can not get through the Republican due diligence/opposition research that he'll face very soon.

Then we'll see if the masses, particularly white males, like Obama and his Clinton like land dealings and shady associations in Chicago, like Jew hating , white hating Louis Farrakhan. Wait until some of his video gets played in commercials with Obama as a backdrop pimp. He's gonna end up looking like the cheap street hustler he is.

And then there is the NYT above the fold article last week regarding Obamas life expectancy in this whole matter. Someone out there among the 300 million plus population is going to go after him.

I think here I'm suppose to say, "Oh heavens I hope not", but the words just won't come. I'm not even looking for them to come.

Agreed. There's a lot about Obama that is ugly. Maybe he can go back to Illinois and change the establishment there. (Their politics are still pretty tarnished, in spite of his political investments there.)

habu, take a look at the video in my comment above -- apply it to the 'logic' implicit in your statement.

The video is a clip from the movie ''Cabaret'' which had as dramatic background the Weimer Republic circa 1931. It's the "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" scene.

Buddy, please... I'm riding a wave of "we can keep that guy out of office" optimism. Please don't be a buzz kill. Just put a warning on the top of your posts. Something like, "Don't read this if you're in a good mood," or something.

I'm not like Obama and his minions, who can enjoy the audacity of hope when all that is offered is an empty promise of change.

I knew a guy who, as a regular working grunt had a very poor promise-to-delivery ratio which drove his bosses nuts. But ever since he’s been in business for himself he’s been a rousing success. I think what’s going on is that he’s got the gift to promise the world to everybody while somehow hiring and managing the people who actually deliver.

Now given that it’s becoming CW that government is a necessary evil which must be no bigger than the real problems which cannot be solved otherwise, I think it should be law that a ‘promise-to-delivery ratio via proven hiring and managing of problem solvers’ mark be tattooed on any wannabe politician’s forehead.

It would look like a check mark in a box with the important number right next to it.

I'll have to watch the video, although since Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" that genres' been all downhill.

But ya know "The Audacity of Hope" seems like a close damn first cousin to "Triumph of the Will"...I'll watch 'er after the NASCAR race ..gotta have priorities ya know.

I still think if an "independent" film maker or even someone on YouTube put together a commercial similar to the "phone call in the middle of the night" and had an Obama hand casting about ,reaching over an ashtray with a blunt in it and a mirror with some coke lined up, then mumbling something incoherent that'll get some play...hell I might do it.
You'd wanna have distance from the McCain campaign so he'd have deniability and damn I just sent him a check......ok Buddy we gotta find somebody to put it up on YouTube if she gets made.....wonder what Bill Clinton is doing ?
