Don't insult women by calling everyone you dislike "feminized". He is a male airhead, the tool of more sinister forces who are using him for their own purposes. But I am sick of people using feminine as code for weak, passive, irrational, wimpy, unable to fight, etc. The only places to celebrate vive la difference are in the bedroom, and in the care and tending of infants and the young. Two places where biology is destiny. You hurt conservativism by sneering at the feminine. Reminds me of the guys at work sneering at a whip smart male colleague as being "whipped" because he actually knows when his kids' school vacation is, and plans to take time off to be w beloved kid! He's no androgynous wimp, just a loving daddy.

Barack is a lightweight and dangerous because of that, but please don't use him to help neantherdals' mindless sexism..

I definitely agree with you and Luther about Madison Avenue and political strategists' unscrupulous use of what we are learning about people's irrational decision making processes. That was such a good article, and sobering to recognize oneself in many of the descriptions.

Matthew 7:3 is a Bible verse that seemed an appropriate response to Habu.

Was reflecting later on the favorite taunts of the middle school boy : "You have issues!" "That's so gay!" or "You are such a pussy!" Such remarks reflect the sexual anxieties and preoccupations of young boys, and it saddens and annoys me when grown men persist in them. My kids have learned to ignore them. I just get mad at them. Payback time for the kids came when they were able to pulverize the louts in fencing and in self-defence class.

The other cowardly middle school tactic is to say something aggressive or insulting then whine "Jeez, can't you take a joke!"

I'm old enough and have been admired and loved enough to know that a woman does not need to be entertaining or please men to be worth something. I'm stably married, I adore my kids, and believe that I have a life (however boring some may find it) and don’t need to go get one, despite chronic illness in the family, tragedy and difficulty. Kind friends redeem the latter inevitable human troubles.

I have plenty of "issues" but I don't think they are a factor in my gut distrust and suspicion of Barack Obama. But it isn't because he is somebody's idea of 'Feminine" (he does seem to be lacking in that he-man appeal I would have looked for when I was in the market for a mate, but it's his PC stuff, his being a lightweight without experience that make me reject him as a Presidential candidate, not his lacking enough testosterone). We need a strong President to lead our country in a dangerous world, not a Manly Man (I keep snickering and thinking of Men in Tights when people get too macho about all this political garbage)

In any case, it is certainly more fun to write nonsense in the blog than to go clear out the freezer or nag a kid to do a research paper whilst resisting their wheedling to do their work for them… I am sociable and garrulous (you think!?!?) and enjoy virtual debate and discussion when the external circumstances of my present life keep my nose to the grindstone and frivolous amusements something to be anticipated Post Kids’ College… But now off in my SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED incarnation….kids tremble and hastily reduce the video game window so as to seem to be earnestly studying physics problems at her approach….
