We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Somewhat apropos to the 1930's are the discussions taking place on the various Before-the-bell financial programs. Yesterday they hauled out almost every heavyweight guru they could muster to interpret what was happening and help soothe nervous investors.
Today we're getting much of the same with a bit more from Davos thrown in for that "global" touch. The futures numbers don't look encouraging and were it not for the FED action yesterday my prediction of a 800 point drop was in bounds.
Now the FED is soon to run out of what it can do with rates and will have to buy at the window.
This is a very complicated web we're in. In an article out this morning George Soros is claiming it's the worst market in 60 years.....I don't like Soros so I gave his opinion a lightly weighted average.
I love the railings - top and bottom - of each floor.
The porches all around make it look a lot bigger than it is.
My favorite feature is the little round room off to the left, above the 2nd floor. I could see that a being a private study or meditation room. Imagine a modern version with lots of tinted (and adjustable) glass. A 270 degree, third floor view - that would be awesome.
