We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Inflation plus recession?Blue Crab. What's a Fed to do? My prediction: A baloney "stimulus package" to maintain the illusion that government can help, a significant rate cut, and slow growth during 2008. Note that most of our inflation is due to oil and ethanol.

And this is kind of an odd story. On one hand, the pilot was certainly heroic in landing a commercial airliner that had lost power, but he didn't warn the passengers they were coming in for a crash landing, so none of them braced themselves, resulting in a number of small injuries and a whole shitload of panic:
