We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In our neck of the woods, those cute and quaint bungalows are so popular and pricey that most folks don't have much cash left over to spend on landscaping! Especially after they re-do the electrical, plumbing and roof, etc...for starters.
Quaint....ha!... "money pit" is more like it. After 20 years of remodeling our old town bungalow, we moved. Older houses need a certain kind of person....one who just LOVES to spend all their time and money on their dwelling. One with more house vanity than we had.
We moved to a "new" 10 year old house outside of town and now have our lives back. But, with the crazy way of the world, we sure made lots of money on that old place...:)
Folks sure love to spend money to buy history.
To each their own.
My wife's uncle owns a bungalow around Chicago. He's a smart money guy and he's not doing too badly according to the buzz. I mean not too badly at all. He's a hard working man who owns about as many things as he thinks he and his family needs and he keeps 'em in good repair. Bungalow's? Yeah, you can dress 'em up if you want to... If you want to.
