We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Do you know of any group that is organized to demand that some jobs be returned to the US? For example: I have for many years purchased my down comforters (European Down) from a place called The Company Store. It is an online service, and before that it was just a catalogue service. Recently, they have taken to substituting Chinese down, and feathers, for European. That material is not nearly so clean, or hypoallergic. However, the company still does use "Hungarian down" . I was devasted to find that I do have Hungarian goose down, but it is in wrapped in fabric shell made in China.
So, my question is this: is there a group that could approach The Company Store and whatever sheet manufacturers we have still operating in the south, and say to both parties. I would like you to put together a product that does not have Chinese covers? Is anybody acting as a liason between small companies to help restore jobs to the US?
S--- now, before I can use my new comforter I have to have it dry cleaned first! That really helps to ruin the down. DAMN
Perhaps, my message sounded too much like a rant, altough I admit to being in that frame of mind at the time. What I am curious to know is this: is there any group of consumers working to develop a focus on rebuilding jobs in the USA?
