Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Wednesday, September 12. 2007Weds. Morning LinksThat air strike by Israel into Syria was a good story. Wish we had more details h/t, Roger Simon. How did the West secularize politics and governance? Book review by Kirsch in the NY Sun George Will: A war seeking a mission. He makes a good point:
Hsugate? It is all reminscent of Bill Clinton's China connections. Scott at Powerline sums up the recent news reports. How smokers saved Iraq. Surber More on the dark side of diversity. Driscoll Was 9-11 a "failure of human understanding"? Boston Herald. Pretty to think so. The BEEB, predictably, takes it to a fully dishonest extent: It's America's fault. That sort of propagandizing and lying to kids infuriates me. Unfortunately for the world, the Islamist terrorists are driven by religious hate and nothing more.

Just a bunch of fictitious dead Kurds killed by chemical weapons... really, extremely fictitious WMDs used to gas Iranians during the Iran/Iraq war... and fictitious equipment for creating chemical weapons sold to Saddam by Germany, France, Russia and even a few key components from the US... lots of fictitious yellowcake sitting around in barrels... and all those fictitious plans spelling out exactlly how the regime would rebuild its WMD industries or, as Michael Ware would put it: 'take it out of mothballs'.
Poor Mr. Will, doesn't like to call the dead to WMD attacks just that. I am much more worried that we have not found the equipment used to create chemical weapons, do nuclear research and bio weapons research. That worries me a hell of a lot more than anything at this point in time. Libya doesn't have it, and the Russians didn't have the heavy lift capability via aircraft to get the stuff out, even though their chem/bio units did help to sanitize their production plants. So where did all that stuff get to? We didn't get it during the Gulf War as it was still sitting around by all the records we have then... which were incomplete because of a bloody tryant being unwilling to come clean on anything. So where is all this fictitious stuff, Mr. Will? Documented to have been there and now just missing, with no records of it being moved... and yet it has, obviously, been moved. We can discount Turkey and Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Kuwait as destinations for it. So that leaves: hidden in Iraq (even after the occupation and Iraqis standing up their own Army and Police), Iran, Syria. Your choice, Mr. Will. Or was it just destroyed without record when that would be Saddam's PROOF that he had stepped away from such programs? And just what did Saddam do with the technology garnered through the US CCC program under President Reagan? How were those billions put through the USDA actually *used*? We have a few cases of 'farm equipment' having to be 're-shipped' after it was not recorded as leaving... and the entire criminal operation to re-sell commodities given for the people of Iraq, by Saddam and his cronies, yielded much for him. And why have some of Saddam's nuclear scientists been reported to be in Syria with Syrian, Iranian and ex-Soviet scientists? I would like hard and fast answers to all of that someday, because it is not fictitious at all. Somehow Mr. Will can use real equipment, cash, supplies to create a 'fictitious' weapons program that just happened to kill thousands... tens of thousands... Got any clues, Mr. Will? Care to buy one? Putin doing some political pre-"election "positioning...ok
Russia explodes biggest thermobaric bomb ever ..ok Russia helping Syria dredge port for Russian Navt in Med..ok Israel's overflights of Syria disclose nuclear sites ..ok SO...when we hit Iran, which we are going to do, the Israeli's will hit Syria with everything short of nuclear they have.. These next many months are going to be very very intersting.. That new Rus bomb is four times bigger than our MOAB. It's a moNster --kills everyone in a four mile radius. Read about it here:
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23411846-details/Russia+tests+the+world's+largest+ever+non-nuclear+bomb/article.do . I mentioned a site in a post a few days ago that I said was the definitive connect-the-dots site to uncover the Leftests.
Here it is again. http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/ When you get to it you will see on the right hand side of the screen a spiderweb deal with a white center...this is the main tool and after it loads you'll see why...*be patient, it is a big file and takes some time to load even if you have high speed* I guarantee once you enter the inner sanctum you won't be disappointed. It's a bit of a dizzying array at first but if you point and click on an person or organization it will isolate that choie and then creat a web of who that choice is connected to..it is far out....you can also input a name like Jesse Jackson and get results. No decoder ring necessary, but be one of the few of you friends who can go to a place and find out who is playing nice with who in the socialist world. Have fun.. RE: Discover the Networks
When you bring up the site, the white center of the "web" on the right side of the screen...just click on it..it will get you to the next page..upper left corner in RED is where you click net..it will load.....the big web will BLOW YOU MIND...let it settle down and then pick a head to click on and watch it isolate and reform that web with your choice as the nexus ..you will be AMAZED at what you see. That or I'll hold by breath until I need to exhale. The BBC has changed that 9/11 document. I just got an email message about it from John at StopTheACLU.
George Will does good work on some conservative issues but he's way too isolationist...thinks we can just hunker down, mind our own business and nobody will ever bother us...riiiiiiiiight.
Will is always interesting. No-one can be right all the time - except me. No, come to think of it, I sometimes disagree with myself.
Phil,
I've talked with George Will on at least five occasion on the phone. It was always about baseball with a smattering of politics. What do you want me to tell him next time I call? He actually wanted me to give him a baseball valued at about 50,000K ..I said no. True story. Per ajacksonian, the thing that really gets to me about people like George Will and other 'conservative' critics of the Iraq war and justification for that war is that they are supposed to be the thoughtful, honest analyst/journalists and yet discard all of the valid questions posed by ajacksonian, as well as, conveniently disregard the FACT that we were still in a technical, if not, actual state of war with Iraq dating to their beligerant and illegal invastion of Kuwait. Six years they seem to forget about 9/11 and the effect that event would/must have on foreign policy/military calculations...particularly with a country in that region with probable connections to terrorist that we were at freakin WAR with!!!! George Will obviously does not have a strategic brain cell in that fancy brain of his.
Habu,
Tell him to focus on baseball and leave the war commentary to someone else. Well I'm a football man myself...probably another reason why I don't always get George. Yep, I always like George Will on baseball, and on the culture. But I agree, he's not thinking through this mideast situation very clearly at all.
