Really, Larry Craig not a hypocrite. Who are the hypocrites? Those who wear fine robes and draw attention as they put there alms in the temple offering horns. What can we say of Craig--his fine robes were the NRA board membership, the over aggressive anti-gay rhetoric, and the willingness to stick to the Republican course even when it was demonstrably failing. All that to cling to power as the senator from Idaho. That, I think, pretty much defines the word hypocrite. David Vitter is, of course, no better being willing to humiliate his wife for his own political career. Shame on them all.

I know the Director of Women's Studies at Duke. I went to grad school with her. She was nuts then, and I guess she still is, decades later.

John McLaren of the Mariners, who worked for Lou in Seattle and I think previously with other teams, initially struck me as a placid type when he was first interviewed. However, a few games back McLaren threw a wonderful Pinellaesque operatic tantrum that led to his ejection in the first inning. It was worthy of his old boss.

OK, Labor Day weekend in the USA. Families kick'n back enjoying la dolce via. As an extra, college football is back, baseball is moving ever closer to the playoffs and World Series ..life is good. Lemme asks ya about a word, ok?

Laogai ? Mean anything to you at all? Laogai, Laogai.

Well chances are really ,really good that you support laogai weekly. Probably big time. Collectively we support laogai in the trillions of dollars.

Laogai are Chinese slave labor camps. They make things. Not just things but things for American markets. Hell everything you by now is made in China and most of it is made by slave labor.

Demonstrators from Tienemen Square, and the interior unrest in China keep these Laogai humming. To quote Kristin Jones in Dangerous Assignments:

They take the displaced and force them into Laogai so we can buy our toys, clothes and just about everything you can mention at our favorite American store for cheap. Yeah, for the lives of old men and women and children...I guess life is cheap...at least we don't have to look at them.

So enjoy Labor Day and next time you make up a shopping list , write at the top of it LAOGAI and remember the slaves who saved you a dollar.

I'm not sure of your point. Certainly there are democrats I am not proud of, but that was not the question. The issue was whether Larry Craig was a hypocrite. To that the answer is unequivocally "yes".

bboot, oh I see, I was wrong about the partisan opportunism. It must've been the gratuitous ref to Vitter, and the general tone of your "...and the willingness to stick to the Republican course even when it was demonstrably failing" that made me mistakenly presume. Sorry.

The spaghetti-o story is a bunch of crap. Kind of a "tortilla" redux. One of the commenters had it right. An increase of a dollar/bu would increase the cost of a lb of pasta a couple of pennies. Shipping (petroleum,) processing, packaging are all much more important cost inputs.

They, also, like Mexico have impenetrable import barriers on ag commodities. As a result, when a bump comes along, the market can't correct. They're just a bunch of whining commies.
