Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

You are so busted

Funny story, by Captain Ed. You can't get away with anything in the internet era.

Also busted: NASA. The News Junkie linked the story well, but kudos to Steve McIntyre, a math-computer blogger who identified NASA's climate error.  Is there really any global warming now? And how come NASA didn't find their own error?

U.S. stock futures point to further declines

A 15 point drop is considered a worrisome point to say the least.... so what do we have before the open?

S&P 500 futures, in volatile moves throughout the morning, fell 16.3 points at 1,441.50 and Nasdaq 100 futures tumbled 19 points at 1,926.50. Dow industrial futures dropped 132 points

Fed fund futures point to emergency Fed rate cut

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Fed fund future prices suggest the U.S. Federal Reserve will be forced to do an emergency inter-meeting rate cut within the next week, Merrill Lynch analyst Joseph B. Shatz said in a note to clients late Thursday. Fed Funds futures appear to be pricing in a substantial risk that the Fed may make the move after a series of recent events, including a move by the European Central Bank to inject $130 billion into banks. On Friday, the European Central Bank injected 61 billion euros ($84 billion) in a tender auction

I was with Cramer in his meltdown about the FED needing to lower rates this week.

THE FED SCREWED UP BIG TIME

Just look at the liquidity the world markets are pouring into the bourses to keep credit markets from total collaspe.
