Menander,342?–291? B.C., was a Greek poet and favorite of Julius Caesar. Caesar when crossing the Rubicon immortalized Menander by utter a line from one of his plays,
"Iacta alea est", the die is cast. I believe that is where we are in American ploitics once again.

The "Surge" could work well enough to retard and reverse any AQ or contra government militias from success but it will not be enough to stop the Democrats from continuing to do exactly the same thing they did in Vietnam...withdraw US support.
At that time they had Watergate to pummel President Nixon with and it was a rivetting televised thrashing he took, eventually leading to his resignation.
They have no such scandal to bludgeon President Bush with but that hasn't stopped them from doing nothing but holding literally hundreds of investigations into his Presidential decisions, the lastest of which, the firing of US Attorneys is totally within the sole power of the Executive Branch for ANY reason, ANY REASON. Yet they persist such is their hatred of President Bush dating to the 2000 election.

The thing that most citizens do not realise about the Democratic Party is that it's philosophy is very close to that of the CCCP, in that they do not want open debate and a compromise on legislation, they want POWER. ALL THE POWER. The means by which they acquire it are totally secondary to it acquisition. Bill Clinton sold secrets to China for campaign money. Sandy Burger stole TOP SECRET documents. Hilllary more than likely has FBI files on all the major players in DC. The list of their treachery extends back to Harry Hopkins and FDR as the Venona Papers verify.

See, the Democrats are just naturally smarter than the rest of us and will gladly show us how we MUST live our lives but to do so they need ALL THE POWER.
