We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
...when I read much of what comes from the left, I'm left with the feeling that they want to consume the benefits that come from living in the U.S. and more generally the West without either doing the messy work involved or, more seriously, taking on the moral responsibility for the life they enjoy.
From a piece about the BBC at Winds of Change, a blog we need to, and will, add to our blogroll.
Exactly, you said it, Buddy Larsen. Those people have easily/ falsely offended feelings and snubbing-sneering expression upon perceived “offense.” No generous doubt or query from them, just reflexive and oddly enjoyable condescending anger toward those who try. A satisfaction to be had, but never a win there for any of us-- ever.
Leftists would consume the best of us without doing their fair share of the lifting, mentally or emotionally.
If you mean real bridges I would have to say yes they can BD. I think those jobs are mostly union jobs. The certified trades people, i.e., journeymen and their apprentices are union and the union hall is often on the same street and even on the very same block as 'leftist' party headquarters.
