Or like the purple haired street trash that ran the fur shoppe out of downtown Portland. Daily protests and assaults on patrons took a toll- freedom. The mayor refused to enforce harrassment laws, assault laws, tresspassing laws, and probably some others along the way.

The Schumacher fur people put up with this for years; their pleas fell on the deaf ears of two different mayors.

All this in a town where calling a protestor "traitor" or "freak" is a 2nd degree assault and a hate crime.

Mind you, I do not eat animals or wear fur, but I will defend to the death your right to make stuff out of tiny creatures and sell it to like minded individuals. (if only- these mobs really bring out the worst in me...)

The anarcho-commie policy is: death camps for Republicans, last time I checked.

Traitor and Freak are probably on the edge of what is prosecutable. Depends on the situation. In Portland there just aren't enough, um, right minded individuals to test this out. Men around here are squishy and avoid conflict at all costs, city men that is. (Real Oregonians don't go into Moscow on the Willamette if they can help it, and they would be polite enough to keep it shut.)

But, yes, to answer your question: words are now "hate crimes" in Oregon. Used to be you had to commit a regular crime first, before the DA could tack on "bias" (hate).

The Schumachers tried to re-locate to a loca suburban mall but the protestors got to the owners first and promised hell on Gaia if it was allowed. Which is more hateful anyway? Killing critters or minding other people's lawfull business?

These enviro-anarcho-commie dictators could care less about rights, but just try to jail one for assaulting the police. Seattle just had to pay protestors 1 million for jailing them. Rocks count as free speech now, so why not a cop's billy club- isn't that an expression too?

Apparently the private property rights of the shopping mall don't count either.
