Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Playing Hookie on a trout stream

Played hookie from work today with a couple of Maggie's Farmers and friends. It's getting late in the spring season here for trout. This is our ultra-secret ultra private trout stream in CT.

The old story is you tell the wife that you're taking the day off to do some things with friends. She asks, slightly annoyed by the irresponsibility, what you're doing. You reply, "Well, we're going over to the Indian casino, and I hope you don't mind our acting foolish once in a while." She says "OK, I do not approve, but have fun and don't come home drunk." Then you sneak off and do what you really want - trout fishing.

Why are my photos today blue-tinged and out of focus? I need to get this camera fixed.

It looks beautiful. Hope you brought your wife home a good fish or seven for dinner...
It might just be time of day (unless it's a digital camera with a self-destructing chip, which I have had two of.) I was trying to take pictures of blood red roses at twilight under trees yesterday (seemingly bright enough still and Canon G7, newish) and of irises, and both came out fuzzy and bluish. Everything in the irises pic was blue tinged, as if in certain lights the blue confuses and bleeds, like too much water in a watercolor brush. What are the properties of light at different times of day?

Retreiver is on the correct track, and I also have similar probs with my little digital wonder, a Canon SD-800IS Digital ELPH. Or, . . . is it because the State of CT is a lot "blue" these days. After spending last weekend in Chicago, and getting bamboozled into attending an Obama benefit, I can tell you that CT pales in comparison to the North Coast.

Very funny. It is a blue state, sadly. I received three invitations to a fancy Obama event a short while ago, and politely declined. He is not a libertarian Yankee sort of fellow, although I am sure he is a nice guy.

You shouldn't cast up one of the seven so easily BD. Now I suffer from envy. Living in a desert state as I do. Good for you and wish I were with you. A great country we live in.

How did you folks catch up so fast? I thought you were under a few inches of snow just a couple of weeks ago. W have our first bloom of roses--beloved Lutheran does such a dutiful job caring for them--I am a lucky woman! I planted irises for him several years ago, and this is the first year we have flower, and boy do we have flowers. With regard to light I think retriever is correct about their being more blue in the late day. Now, let's see if my memory serves me at all: there is more blue at the end of the day because light travels through more atmosphere (lower on the horizon). Does that work?

Well, I had some micro-wave fish sticks the other day, and with enough ketchup they were Scrumptious!
