We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Ha. Love it! I am 'trying' to do 45 minutes on the stationary bike or walking each day and so far I have gained 3 pounds. :0/ I guess it must be the intake part of the equation that is the problem. I am having a 'small' problem trading in the mac and cheese and fried haddock lunches for a yogurt and a microwaved yam.
As for a nursing home at $5000 a month, could you let me know where one is that cheap? I have been taking care of my Dad this month while my brother and his family went on vacation. Unfortunately Dad got really sick last week. Again. He has multiple health problems now and had to be hospitalized and I just got him into rehab at a local nursing home yesterday. His insurance will cover him for a few weeks but after that it will be $9200 a month until he spends down his own money and can apply for Medicaid. And we want to keep his private nurse on payroll too, and that is another $1500-$2500, depending on her hours. He is very dependent on her now and she is really great with him. Dad is a real hard head and she does not take any bs from him or from the hospital and nursing home staff. She was a prison guard for 20 years before becoming a nurse. Perfect combo. lol. I do not know how I would have managed if she had not been here to help us out. Getting old is definately not for babies.
Funny reasons all too true. In my case, I seem to have bought an infernal elliptical trainer in order to get into top shape to one day fight off the two drugged ex-con types who delivered and assembled it while casing the house, trying doors and acting too interested in the art and who caused me to go out and buy a handgun the next day.
