Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Mayo's Beach Light, Wellfleet, MA

The lighthouse-keeper's house stands today, but the light tower has been taken down. Great Island in the distance to the left, Chequessett Neck to the right. Photo is around 1910.

love/hate playing off fear/need/shame?

She's crippled, and the only people she knows are her family, in that house. She knows she is a burden to them, and that she ought not hate their normality--the normality that defines her weakness.

That's all I can do without laughing at meself.

Your take? (i guess we could 'search' what the artist says he meant--probably pretty deliberately prosaic, in the style of the time and place).

yes--and distance is right there in the narrative. There is a road to the house, but it isn't often used.

Well, now i'm embarrassed. yup, I bragged on another thread. I hope others do the same come they b'day, so i can have some cover, LOL.

And thanks for that astrology bit, Patina. I'm looking for one that says, "Hey, you're getting older, you better GET yo ass on that BowFlex right there behind you!"
