Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Turkey

300,000 protest in Ankara against Islamist threats from Turkish political Imams.

I am fond of Turkey, as readers may know, and eager to return there for another visit.

It is mighty refreshing to see a mass protest like this in the Middle East.

Good catch --this is plenty big. The world's only Muz democracy (besides Iraq), as well a NATO member with one foot into the EU, and as always a bulwark against the new czar in the Kremlin and the mad mullahs in Iran.

It's great good news that so many are so determined to keep Islamism and the government separate. Ataturk is a powerful rally point.

Wonderful news and a reason to keep up hope.

Of course, Norway is now sending a billion dollars to Hamas.

Turkey has managed to stand alone forever, it seems. It's amazing and a testament to what a Muslim democracy can accomplish. Bravo!
