Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The NYPost had a devstating column on the Impotence of the UK Navy. While I love the British Marines and Soldiers I've trained with, their government is committed to making them worthless as allies.

You know, as excellently as the RN fought the Argentines, it was already in the 80s stretched very, very thin.

IIRC, RN fought about 30 Harriers against some 200 first-line Argie aircraft.

When they lost their choppers aboard a damaged ship, the troops had to foot-slog the long march across the island to attack Port Stanley. No back up plan, because no 'stuff' to do it with.

The old Brit pluck and know-how is ALL that pulled the operation through.

World's best bourbon...

Maker's Mark is indeed one of Kentucky's finest bourbons. Their newspaper advertising used to be created by one of the company's execs.

The advertising has never been politcally correct, and is blunt. An early slogan was "It tastes expensive. And is."

A British company now owns the small distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, but you'd never know that from any of the company's advertising.
