We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Antoine de saint exupery. If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't asign them tasks and work, but rather teach them
to long for the endless immensity of the sea.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman [BD wd like]. However, one cannot put a quart in a pint cup.
George Bernard Shaw. He who has never hoped can never despair.
Retriever: I keep forgetting you are always about 2 or 3 horus ahead of me ;-) Thank you for the beautiful quote. It really helps to start the day--which by the way is what hope is all about. I can't live without it!
Good morning AP! Rather fond of the quote by the Frenchman. Need it, walled up alive in my cubicle with a jungle of plants to remind me of the outdoors I long for... And no immediate plan for how to get out. We are sometimes trapped, not so much by lack of planning skills, but by the weight of responsibilities for others.
Retriever: email me if you would like my insights, or thoughts on a particular aspect of the academic world. One suggestion I offer is this: When reviewing the website for a university, go to the department, or college of interest, go to the faculty page and start clicking through each individual faculty member starting with Professors, then associate professors, then assistants. IF, you find that these people have not included the dates or the schools from which they received their final degree--CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL!! Why, you may ask? Because, the extreme revolutionary left which now runs our schools has suggested very strongly (you are a bad person and we will do what we have to to get you out) that any noble white person will not include dates/schools for their degrees, because it creates an environment that is not favorable to those, who just conned their way through a lesser quality university, or those who came through during a particular time which may shed some insight as to the values of that person. Therefore, in order to be fair to anybody coming up the "non-meritocacy" ladder those, who have truly accomplished a qualified degree are no longer encouraged to publish that information on their websites. That way they are not creating an unequal playing ground for those who did not work that hard, or have the money, or the brains, or whatever!! Not all schools are forcing this at this time--but those that are extremely PC and most likely being run by the fem/nazis will have this in place.
Thanks AP, for sage advice. Have observed the same phenomenon in many other arenas, alas. When introducing our new minister, the hagiographic materials from the search committee only disclosed his mediocre seminary and no word about his undergrad [which turned out to be atrocious].
My kids as stubborn as me,so unreceptive to much direction on schools, but only one seems susceptible to pc pr.
Hope springs eternal and spring is eternally hopeful. Jasmine, cherry, redbud, wysteria, dogwood, fuschia, azalea, phlox, spirea, dianthus, bleeding heart and one deep red tulip are all in bloom outside the window, coloring all outlook bright—have to ignore the ½” thick green pollen all over the ground, cars and rooftops, tho'. Selective vision seems to serve best.
