Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I see the tv ads--I thought it was just another 'relieve pill-happy boomers of their disposable income' play. "Live & learn", sez me, wondering it that was a leg twitch I just felt.

That Barone piece is perfect. His writing is almost aural, so clear, paced, & simplified. He follows that show-biz dictum, "always leave 'em wanting more".

Enjoyed WalMart link. the anti-Walmart forces are so utterly transparent--'worker's rights' indeed.

Not a soul working for anybody in this country has to do so.

The only forced actions in the workplace are the unions capturing companies and then forcing the workers to support the union bosses' political thuggery.

The results are in--union membership is in a plummet just as corporate productivity, financial health, and GROWTH (read, more jobs, more security, more opportunity, more future) are trending strongly upward.
