Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Peace marchers

Disturbing photos of the Portland peace marchers. Who are all of these people?

They do not seem to understand anything about America. I ask myself how hard I want to work my brain to try to understand how they view the world. I am more inclined to let Dr. Sanity do that dirty job.

Addendum from The Barrister: Some folks are beyond persuasion, and some folks are willing to listen to logical argument and disputation. We all like to think that we are in the latter category, but I do not think I would get too far with that 1960s holdover geezer in the photo. He hates America, and you cannot argue with hatred.

Last time this happened a different mayor got them all porta potties and forbid the cops from defending themselves.

People were attacking them with sticks and acid and pepper spray but the cops only got to bring them sandwiches, bottled water, and potties.

Time to start a GOE in the PACNW. I'd go and support them if they did it. I think the anarcho-commies around here would definitely cross the line into violence.

If I saw anyone doing those things, I'd punch them and do what damage I could before being jailed for defending my country's honor. How dare they! Why don't they do some useful work for humanity like test out an aids vaccine or visit lonely old people or fatherless children?

Portland does not have to approve this garbage. There's some limitations on speech--can't incite riot, can't use "fighting words", can't yell 'fire' in crowded theater, etcetera.

Actually, once you get outside of Seattle, Portland, and a few rural spots frequented by the urbanites and transformed to their liking, the Northwest is pretty much in the Red State column.

Phil's got it.
I didn't get to the GOE but I sent money to variuos organizations and bought a 1000 rounds of ammo for my new M-14.
I many have to go to the expense of going the full class III BATF regs and get something fully auto but that's just pissed off talking.

Now it's hard to know when you're approaching paranoia but I read on David Horowitz site FrontPage an interview with an author of several books on terrorism. His biggest heads up was that the new Jihadists are now starting to be home grown. Now we all know that alot of just plain criminals and psychos would love to join in creating anarchy in the US so they're joining up. I believe I'v mentioned before that we have over ONE MILLION criminals in prison, few of whom are ever going to be "reformed" but will be let out. We also know that Islam has been the biggest recruiter inside prisons for a decade plus.
This is all not good.
Buddy is also right in that the Mayor and city government can enact laws against this type of flag dragging ,"fighting words" display.

I'm calling Jack Bauer right now.
Skook and Retreiver are also right.
Retriever, I'd like to see them test out new cyanide inhalers.

One more thought. Each of use better make sure that our friends who feel as we do actually VOTE. If you have to drag them to the polls we musy regain Congress and retain the WH or we will be in deep deep pooh-pooh.

I don't like 'I-told-you-so', but before the Nov 07 election, when conservatives were coming unglued from the WH party over one or another (granted important) issue, many of us were forlornly trying to remind of the 'lesser-evil' principle.

The feedback was, "that's false, better to dump Bush for his lack of this or lack of that, in order to save the conservative movement from dissipation."

My thought was, the Hippocratic Oath should apply to one's vote.

There'll only be time to keep repairing things if there are still ways to repair things. Those new guys would take those ways away from you if only they could--and they are looking into the matter as we speak.

There's gotta be a way to hit those lousy bastids back. I think the KKK and a few militias were brought down by tort lawsuits. Got hit in the wallet. Wonder if those red fronts that organize these things have any assets.
