I receive this Email and passed it on last week. Well one of my 6 Daughters the inquisitive one the wife of Captain Chris Lane Ft Bragg NC an Afghan Veteran took it on herself to follow up with Captain Hunt for verification. I guess that’s why she wants to be a lawyer. She has her Masters degree and is close to her Doctorate In international law I think. Any way this was her reply and I wanted to shear it with you all. The picture is great.

The attachment is a picture of Rambo and the marines, a nice picture. I liked this story so I wrote to John Hunt to see if it was for real, what about the guy, you know...he wrote this back. Its pretty cool. Little guy so proud in his ACUs. Bustin' up car bombers. Maybe it is working over there.

Hey Everybody,
I just wanted to share with you what has transpired since I sent
you, my closest friends, the story about one of our local Afghans that
we affectionately refer to as Rambo. The attempted attack on one of our
bases in Kabul made the national news but the details of Rambo's courage
did not. What a wonderful thing the internet is. I had no idea that
sharing this account of what happened with you all would result in over
300 responses from around the world. I have received positive and
supportive e-mail from almost every state in the US plus Panama, Canada,
Scotland and even France. I haven't even read them all because you only
get so much time on the computer. Because of you this story will be
published in four news papers in Texas, Arizona, Minnesota and
California. I knew this story had made it's way around the globe when I
received two different e-mail from soldiers here in Afghanistan that
already knew of Rambo and had met him. They claim that he renders a
proud salute to every soldier that passes him, officer and enlisted. I
received a call from the base where the attack happened in Kabul 27
miles from my location from a Full Bird Colonel (O-6) telling me that
his General (2 star) back in the states had received the e-mail and
wanted confirmation of the story, which he was able to provide because
he was there. He also shared with me that the Base Commander had
already had a ceremony recognizing Rambo's bravery and dedication to his
country. Today I received a package from the Commander of the Joint
Medical Information Systems with a plaque and a unit coin that I will be
presenting to Rambo next week. My favorite of all the e-mail was from a
Marine that worked in Special Operations. He believed this to be the
same Afghan that acted as a Scout/Translator back in 2002 in the
mountains of Tora Bora when they were searching for Bin Laden. This is
Rambo on the far left in the beard. He may not be big, but his balls
sure are.

Hi everyone. I'm still alive but freezing my tail off. We got 8 inches
of snow last week and it reached 5 degrees below zero that night.
That's not why I'm e-mailing though. You may have heard about a suicide
car bomb attack in Kabul last Thursday. It was at one of our FOB's
(Forward Observation Bases) about 27 miles from here. But the real
story is why know one was killed. We employ several thousand Afghans on
our various bases. Not to mention the economy that is fed by the money
these locals are making. Some are laborers' and builders but some are
skilled workers. We even have one Afghan that just became OSHA
qualified, the first ever. Some are skilled HVAC workers. Anyway,
there is this one Afghan that we call Rambo. We have actually given him
a couple of sets of the new ACU uniforms (the new Army digital
camouflage) with the name tag RAMBO on it. His entire family was killed
by the Taliban and his home was where our base currently resides. So
this guy had really know here else to go. He has reached such a level
of trust with US Forces that his job is to stand at the front gate and
basically be the first screening. Since he can't have weapon he found a
big red pipe. So he stands there at the front gate in his US Army ACU
uniform with his red pipe. If a vehicle approaches the gate too fast or
fails to stop he slams his pipe down on their hood. Then once the gate
is lifted the vehicle moves on the 2nd gate where the US Army MP's are.
So he's like the first line of defense. Last Tuesday, January 16th at
0930 hrs a Toyota Corolla packed with explosives and some Jack Ass that
thinks he has 72 Virgins waiting for him approached the gate. When he
saw Rambo he must have recognized him and known the gig was up. But he
needed to get to that 2nd gate to detonate and take American lives. So
he slams his foot on the gas which almost causes the metal gate to go up
but mostly catches on the now broken windshield. Rambo fearlessly ran
to the vehicle reached thru the window and jerked the suicide bomber out
of the vehicle before he could detonate and commenced to putting some
red pipe to his heathen ass. He detained the guy until the MP got
there. The vehicle only exploded when they tried to push it off base
with a robot but knowone was hurt. I'm still waiting for someone to
give this guy a medal or something. Nothing less than instant US
citizenship or something. A hat was passed around and a lot of money
was given to him in thanks by both soldiers and civilians that are
working over here. I guess I just wanted to share this because I want
people to know that it's working over here. They have tasted freedom.
This makes it worth it to me.
