We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. College Football Coach Salaries

Nick Saban's deal at Alabama sounds generous. James Joyner spells out the rationale, at TCS: Crimson With Envy. Some folks just refuse to understand that market forces apply to labor. Alabama football is a big business.

Anyone would envy Saban's deal. So do whatever you need to do to compete with the Sabans of the world, if you want the same deal. But you cannot compare them with English Profs. Any moron can blather about phallocentric hegemonic narratives, but running a world class football team is something entirely different.

I agree with Joyner's position. Saban will pay for himself.
Many moons ago Wm. F. Buckley did an article on college football and salaries, graduation rates, value to the institution. It had everything just like the big test we just all passed (way to go folks).
The one suggestion I remember him making was that college sports shouldn't be the Athletic Program but in the Theatrical Department. I don't remember his reasoning, hell right now I've still got about 700 abo's outside do'in some digeridoo and tagging my car with pictographs.

Completely offensive. It wasn't enough to be high honor roll, Prefect, school paper editor etc., one had to put up with socialite bitches who didn't get elected and horny football players all making up stuff.

Would be like me saying how boys who drive Corvettes are classic "compensators," pity their women. Anyway, no more commentary and moderation from this mom. You win!

This coming from a commentator who not too long ago in a retort to Buddy's "five" minutes with a sport'n woman said,
"Five minutes?"
"When I serve tea it takes at least a half hour"

Look, if you want to play the ingenue go right ahead.
It perhaps was a bit boorish, but completely offensive?

There was this hit song, C, before your time (only such flotsam and jetsum as habu & i would remember it), called "Tan Me Hide When I'm Dead, Fred!". It was full of Abos & digereedoos, and such, and rode right up the top ten list, back when records were 45 RPM and if your jalopy had an AM radio, it was fully-optioned. maybe that title was "Tie me Kangaroo Down".

Thank you, Buddy. ha ha..... "...I thought it was 'Tiny kangaroo'.." Reminds me of singing my guts out to "Stairway to Heaven" and getting to the part just after "And as she winds on down the road..." going into instant mumblese and then bursting forth right after the then unknown 'her shadow taller than her soul' with full-throated lyrics. Kinda like singing in church when there aren't enough hymnals to go around

Sorry for my silliness. Just read from top post and wondered if I was on the right planet.
