Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, January 6. 2007Huntin' Tomorrow LinksNeed to be up and out early tomorrow. Grouse out there in the swamps, wanting to play games with us. So here are a few goodies for tonite. (Am I not a reliable reporter? Especially considering the pay?) Star Trek withdrawal. Basil suffers from this endemic disease. I have it, too, but my insurance doesn't cover the treatment. Guess what? In England, they have a deal we do not have. Worstall. And one more, too: Sex at 16 yes, but no smoking afterwards. Don't mess with my church. Ham at TownHall. Thanks, Instap. Like Sinn Fein? My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy does not. Me neither. Low-life thugs, with a political scam. Like Jesse Jackson with bombs. John Edwards' Con Game. Gay Patriot. Just another tax-dodging limo liberal, who never made an honest buck since he got out of school. The mystery of capital. This deserves a separate post - but everything we post does. Read it. The Times of London is reporting in tomorrows issue that the Israeli's are prepared to strike Iran with tactical nuclear weapons at Natanz, Isfahan, and other sites.
The yields will be about 1/15th the size of the Hiroshima bomb. We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when But I'm sure we'll meet again some sunny day Keep smiling through, just the way you used to do Till the blue skies chase the dark clouds far away When it hits the fan, things will get very, as in very, interesting.
Go get 'em, Macabees & Hashmoneums! Thanks for the fade-out song from Dr. Strangelove--gallows humor is still humor--
:-) Budddy,
You know I had to use it, even if the yields are small it will be a big event. There's also a story in the NYT about Saddams last few days and how (my words here) prisssy the US was about doing it etc. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/07/world/middleeast/07ticktock.html?ei=5065&en=528a2d4d48836088&ex=1168750800&partner=MYWAY&pagewanted=print habu--read the "shrinkwrapped" link--warning--it's pretty tough on yer old outfit.
Buddy,
Ill read it but from what I hear my old outfit is unfit. I believe it's dysfunction began when Carter took office. I'm sure Clinton politisized it to the nTH degree but now that it's not top dog maybe things will change. I'm just glad I was in when it was in the shadows or I wouldn't have believed the changes I saw take place. BTW..have you heard of BOTNETS? NYT via Lucianne.com has an article appearing now on her site for tomorrows edition..it ain't good...now to your article 1973, according to the new info--under Nixon--the State Dept started excusing the Arafat beast/losing the Islam Wars.
NJ, the 'shrinkwrapped' link goes to a different post than "mystery of capital" --but is a must read, anyway. went to http://lucienne.com/ and now have bought a case of cigaret lighters. damn.
yeah that whole BOTNET deal and the admission by our top people that we have no defense against it is very scary.
I've known for years that the Chinese on a daily basis have been attacking our Defense and Intelligence Agency networks. I don't ever see anything about it in print but I have people that tell me. Now these rogue (or are they? ) BOTNETS...hide gold under your bed. In '73 I was a busy traveller. Chili, Vietnam, laos,Thailand,East GermanyNew Zealnd,Australia,Hawaii,Brussels,London and others. Plus we were launching Operation Long Reach SR-71 support for the '73 Arab Israeli War and Project Jennifer,ProjectAzorian, and Project Matador all efforts to recover A Golf class Soviet sub. using the Glomar Explorer. It was wild and wooly..I loved it. But that entire intel world is so different than the rest of the world it can't be explained in print or movie. It's something you live everyday and it's a trip. http://lucianne.com/
not sure you had the right IRL scroll down to Attack of the Zombie Computers etc..if you had it already ...apologies for my doubt it's just that your Lucianne was spelled differently and the cig lights zoomed over me. I'll bet--and who owned the Glomar Explorer but Howard Hughes. Almost got the sub up, too, but it broke up ascending. Las Vegas and the Soviets, Gad.
I'm pretty sure SOMEONE knows what happened in Dallas in November '63. Will anybody ever write the book? I mean, if it was Carlos Marcello, the intelligence agencies would know, wouldn't they?
I read somewhere the other day that a huge volume of classified material that wasn't due to see daylight for another 10-20 years has been declassified and released. It's 60's and 70's stuff so we'll all start to find out a good deal more about everything.
I do know this. In todays world all transmissions, telephone ,sat, fax, you name it is picked up by ECHELON. Problem is we can't get to all of it. The AQ have taken a page out of the Battle of the Bulge. We had ULTRA, but for that operation they used only human couriers to transmit the plans etc..AQ has gone to that, knowing our capabilities. You can get a good deal of info on a read-write disk or in my day microdots abd other means. Just have an innocuous looking kid carry the news. You should come out to Colorado to hunt our Blue Grouse. Most of us hunt them with .22 pistols.
Good supper in an elk camp, but not much of a challenge for the wingshooter. Hey, Animal. Welcome.
No, Blue Grouse are not exactly sporting. The ones I've seen out West let you almost walk up to them while they are clambering around a tree. How do they taste? They taste pretty good. It's not really what I'd consider a "hunt," more of a "harvest," bringing them in - I have a friend who kills them with a stick.
Good eating, though. Anything fried in bacon grease, in black iron over a campfire, is delicious. well, not anything. Everyone's heard the moose turd joke.
