Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, January 6. 2007Denver vs. New Orleans
Not football - self reliance. Denver wins. Conspiracy. Denver experiences weather events "of Biblical proportions." Residents laugh at idea of federal help: they would never ask. We can see cultural differences at work here.

Mayor Nagin was clearly a victim of years of white racism and deprived of his civil rights. His lack of dispatching the school buses to evacuate those in peril was a ploy by the Bush administration to flood that arear first after they had blown up the dikes holding back the torrents of water they knew would hurt Mayor Nagin's "Chocolate City"
This was all done because Mayor Nagin delivered honest votes to the Democratic candidates who opposed the illegitimate Bush presidency. Mayor Nagin was proudly and ludly returned to office by the residence of New Orleans. Bush is evil and has bad juju. Selling Bush as the Katrina villain has been so successful, and is so COMPLETELY stupid, that I almost want to move to Bulgaria and grow olives or whatever.
Great link to Donald Luskin--excellent economist whose bond mkt predictions have been coming true in a cascading fashion, and who, best of all, runs a 'truth squad' on the notorious communist agitprop specialist, NYTimes economist Paul Krugman. Yep--i've been listening to him. he sees four count 'em four quarter-point cuts in 07. Sez that Gov need close to 5% growth to pay the bills, and will get there with rate cuts. IOW, will inflate to get over the hump. if he's right, don't get fooled into the commodity sell-off so far in 07. But he may not not be right. Job formation was way up last week--
Buddy,
that ole market can't fool me after losing as much as I have over the years ,only to have to work and make it back. I'm long in gold,MRE's, water purification straws, hiddden underground gas tanks and I'm angling for a handicapped parking sticker. I need another 5,000 rounds of ammo, .45,.44,.357,6.8mm and 7.62. If I get the BFG 50 caliiber I'll need some of that too hahaha.
I think I will angle for a Mentally Handicapped sticker, with my evidence being editing this blog. have heard there is a two mile hit recorded with that thang. sounds like hyperbole tho.
BD,
Check my typing and spelling .. I'm a shoe in for a Mentally Challlllllengged stucker. I think angling for that one is its own proof of need, BD--
:-D Buddy,
No way they're reaching out 3500+ yards. I'm looking at one made by Serbu. My brother-in-law use to work with the guy but said he really needed to be on his own as he was a real genius at what he did (aeropace engineering) but didn't fit the corporate mold. http://serbu.com/ Fellas:
The guys at CheyTac say they'll build me a lefty - but I didn't ask them about the $$ part. Kinda like what J.P. Morgan said about owning a yacht... And given the above mentioned impossibility, are .308 VEPRs any good?
You talked to our friends at CheyTac? We might maybe could help you with the deal. We dined with them in December.
BD:
Hoo-boy. Thanks and I'll have to think about that one... but mucho dinero. Still, I will keep it in mind. First, I need an assault rifle before the Washington State politicians ban their sale. Maybe a Stag AR or a .308 AK, we shall see. One thing I'm sure you're aware of but just to make sure...whatever you buy make sure you can get ammo for it over time.
I'm really not paranoid but if we get a thing going in this country vs. the Islamists #1. The police will be happy to fill out an after action report #2 We don't have enough NG or Armed Services to counter a Tet like offensive here. #3. It may well come down to you and your neighbors vs the bad guys. Habu:
Nope, no exotic ammo. Also, stuff I can fix/make or that a competent local smith can fix/make. Which is a plus for the AK, I think. And by summer I'll be reloading. It's very hard to not love the AK. It's a weapon that has changed the world and if I can mix my weapons/aircraft it fits in with the B-52 and the C-130 for being there and working when you need it.
I'm sure you know, but your .308 tops the list, for power, accuracy, and AVAILABILITY. Unless you're going the bullet-mold route, like Dan'l Boone, that last one is the doozy for that worrisome four-horsemen scenario.
You are kee-reckt, Mr. Larson. Though I want to make my own 16 gauge slugs. Don't ask me why, cause I don't know myself.
