Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Hurricanes, sea level and droughts... Panic-cans and grifters still fighting to get to the government teat. See also... Covid 19 and the current AI grasp for government control to insure government approved grifting by the usual socialist suspects.
AI is dangerous. It has the potential for misuse in every facet of life. I have a few suggestions that may at least minimize some of the problems and make us aware of problems earlier so we can reduce the impact.
1. No secrets! Everything open and available to everyone. And by "everything" I mean every person, source, code, data in the system has a "paper" trail and traceability 100%. Using Wikipedia for an example if you read that today's average temperature is 1 degree warmer than it was 100 years ago you have no idea who put that info there. Under my rule you would know who (everyone who contributed to that fact, when they provided it and exactly what they added or deleted. 2. A warning or watermark! That is if you acquire information without regard to where you find it IF anything, the smallest bit of info, came from AI then the info/output would have a warning label to warn you that some of the data came from AI. Again no exceptions. 3. The opportunity too refute. Using the above example of the 1 degree of warming; anyone who disagreed could update this opinion AND that information must be included in any distribution of the original statement. 4. Strong laws to prevent and punish any failure to follow these rules that would include the user removing the AI notification, the "paper trail", and the counter arguments. I.E. if you quote something from AI your quote must include everything that the AI search produced. guy; There 130 some countries represented in the UN . Only 24 UN delegations remained to hear Nutenyahoo's rant. You don't want the UN to "become functional". You want the UN , when dealing with Middle East politics, to be a wholly owned Israeli/US subsidiary. How functional do you think a UN composed of 24 toadies would be? Stop embarrassing yourself
"a wholly owned Israeli/US subsidiary"
Yes!! Now you are talking! Otherwise get the UN out of the U.S. and the U.S. out of the UN. So many people are afraid of AI, but very few people can even give one example of what they're talking about. If you have a serious concern I'm willing to listen to it, but just being against something because you do not understand it is silly.
Do not understand!
I first worked in a data center in 1965, might even be before you were born. I have worked in this field, computers, AI, data centers, electronics my entire life. I am not "afraid" of AI or data centers I am afraid of how they will be used. It is common for computers to be wrong, therefore it is common for AI to be wrong. But there is a natural human tendency to believe what comes out of a computer. And you can see that in the blind obedience that AI will free us all and make wonderful discoveries. And it may... However AI will be used for propaganda, fraud and misappropriation. What I am suggesting is an open system, no secrets and total accounting, sourcing and tracking of who, what and when. I worked in a system that used that kind of security. Whenever a change was made to the data it tracked what the data looked like before the change, what exactly was entered and who changed it from where and when. This was a diverse system but mostly scientific data and most of the staff were doctors of one thing or another with a sprinkling of Masters and Bachelor degrees. Smart people and they made mistakes all the time. AND they didn't know that when they entered something into the system I would see what they changed. So they were always surprised when I, the computer geek, showed up in their office to discuss what they were doing. Keeping a database clean and accurate is difficult but when you are trying to prevent intentional misinformation or sabotage it is almost impossible. We must control this from the very start. It is too important to allow it all to be a secret black box spouting data and directives. We the people must have complete and total open access to the system and the data. The UN has been taken over by terrorist countries and sympathizers. These countries intentionally try to distort the intent of the UN. A great example is all the delegates who left when Netanyahu spoke recently. Perfect! They self identified, remove them all from the UN so that they UN can become functional.
'Hillary Clinton Explains AI Dangers, and I Am Persuaded Now'
Well, if there's anyone who knows about random and mysterious forces killing people... Hillary Clinton explains...
New York Times latest example of AI doom fear is silly. (from The Last Refuge) Sept 26 Https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2026/09/26/new-york-times-latest-example-of-ai-doom-fear-is-silly/#more-287397 Corporatists are simply trying to escape liability law. An AI robot was programmed to give ethical advice to humans. It became racist and homophobic after learning from 1.7 million real life experiences.
But wait, it gets worse. They fixed it! By reprogramming it so it always ignored anything bad or illegal that a minority did and was only allowed to account for negative things white males did. But... but... AI is good and infallible, right! Right? |
