We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
So, serious question: Do you "eat" raw oysters? I don't think so, I think you slurp them off the shell and swallow them whole. Do you taste raw oysters? Again, I don't think so you taste whatever they put on them, some spices and butter. So how do you know if one oyster is better than another? Again I could be wrong, I have seen people consume oysters and they always swallowed them whole in half a second, no bites, no tasting.
Silly Me: you are slightly right. I must say that the oysters from the Pacific Northwest in particular from WA state are a real treat! I put them in my mouth with a little lemon juice and a tny dab of hot sauce. Then I bite into the oyster and let it slide down my throat. Love em.
I've only had Gulf oysters, but when I'm there I eat them every day, raw. I chew them and enjoy the flavor. Sometimes I use lemon or hot sauce, but they're better with nothing but a glass of sauvignon blanc. I don't know if I could tell one region from another, but I would love to try.
The only way I eat them cooked is fried on a sandwich, or I drop a pint of them in gumbo at the very end.
