Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

“We launched a war on nature. Now we are in a climate war zone.”
Mentally ill climate eco freak admitting that arson is one of their most effective weapons. Also signaling the mentally ill troops to escalate. McDonald's sales are dropping because their prices have risen to the point that for about a dollar more a plate you can get a better meal at a chain sit-down restaurant.
"Nothing Can Stop the AI Revolution"
It begs the question. Should unaccountable billionaires be allowed to build huge data centers in towns when the data center destroys the quality of life for the citizens? AND, agree or disagree but there is something fishy going on with the data centers and the suspicion is made worse by those who keep telling us there is nothing to see and citizens should sit down and shut up and accept it. But it can all be easily fixed: 1. Give citizens of any community the veto power on data centers. 2. Require all politicians and employees to swear under oath that they did not accept bribes or collude with anyone wanting to build a data center. 3. Require data centers to acquire their own water and power and not use the town's utilities OR if they use the towns utilities that they pay for all improvements and expansion costs. 4. To avoid the suspicion data centers have created make them open to the public where anyone can enter, take pictures and see everything in the building. 5. Require that all workers building and maintaining data centers must be local citizens who were born in the local area. No foreign or H1B employees allowed. 6. No tax breaks. Can you cure mental illness? First know that mental illness is a spectrum. Many, 50% or so, people who are mentally ill would function just fine in a world before 1900. But in today's world were everything is easy and everything is provided for you those with minor mental illness have nothing but free time to act out. And they do. Can a mental health professional help them function better? Probably. Could a cop or priest or teacher or parents help them function better? Probably.
But the serious mental illness is a different problem. Short of a drug that incapacitates them medical science probably can't help them. AND they are mostly able to understand when they should hide their mental health issues and fake being normal. The same crazy guy on the street or a bus who threatens your life can act calm and innocent when half a dozen cops show up. It is this free will and human abilities that make the seriously mentally ill people dangerous. And for the most part no one can help them! Even trying to help them puts you at risk; ask Rob Reiner. Oh! Wait, you can't ask him or his wife. You cannot fix them! They are a danger to you and the public. That is why in saner times we locked them up. Cowen's right - those flock cameras and data centers are going to be built no matter what we say or do.
"The Problem with City-Owned Grocery Stores..."
If these stores are going to be subsidized by NYC taxpayers (as I don't doubt they will have to be), then NYC taxpayers should cheerfully buy all their discounted groceries (the discount effectively represents a tax rebate) until they eventually fail and are closed down (as they surely will be). Problem solved! They are coming into Montana's "Long range views". Those vistas that draw millions of people every year to see and feel what it used to be like on this planet before developers needed to "poopu" on everything!
Question: rather than destroy that which we all cherish in MT, why can't we build these things on Bill Gates farmlands? Eithere way we loose food production capacity and Billy is behind these things anyway--it is his profiteering. Oh. Now here's a thought. Why can't they build things up north--way up north. I would bet you that Alberta and Manitoba would love to have a couple of these things and . . they have access to waaay more water than we have. Just sayin. P.S. Here is the most recent effort by MT Democrats and Republicans to collaborate. Of course, it doesn't look like that on the surface, but you bet the Woman who screwed up was a democrat and the local AG is a republican. IMHO they are both working for our R governor (billionaire computer guy) who is pushing for Data Centers. Read it and weep https://montanafreepress.org/2026/08/04/signature-gathering-deadline-for-data-center-petition-changed-to-past-tense/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newspack+Newsletter+%28270087%29&utm_source=2&npnl=MjcwMDg3fDJjOWNlNTBhM2JmMzNlZjU4ZmUxNzZjNGJiN2Q2ODU1Zjk1NzU5MWYwMTJhM2M3NmI1NzdlMzFjMWE1NDQ2YjU&utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=A%20deadline%20mistake%20derails%20a%20data%20center%20petition&utm_campaign=Newspack%20Newsletter%20%28270087%29 AMA position on gender transition support will be cured by lawsuits from minors that bankrupt such practicing physicians and hospitals.
Fast food will survive only if it is cheap and convenient. Otherwise the prices currently will drive people to sit down restaurants or to brown bagging meals. Two trillion dollar pseudoscience scams are finally outed for what they were. The 'professional' scamming will become ever more embarrassing and costly to the practitioners. "Should I Get a Gun?"
A doctor friend of mine recently shared a ski lift in Colorado with a couple from Massachusetts. When they found that he was from the South, they asked if he had ever seen a gun. They had never seen a firearm, only pictures of them. I think that illustrates a wider problem covered in this article. People in mainstream media, academia, and political thought don't really understand the part of the country they disdain. I understand them pretty well, because they constantly broadcast how they feel. If they would start reading Maggie's Farm, they would be better educated! Having never seen a gun before is such a strange concept to me. In OK being a liberal isn't cause for being opposed to guns. I know some very liberal people who own guns. It's common ground between the political opposites.

Since gender is imaginary, how do you transition it? If you want to claim gender is real, please explain the physical basis of gender. |
