We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Yet Another Embarrassment From The National Academy Of Pseudoscience... “While the often-stated maxim that correlation does not imply causation is true, in fact, correlation is the only means that we have of establishing causation in science.” That statement is just flatly wrong. Instead, the process for establishing causation in science operates through the falsification of alternative (“null”) hypotheses of causation.
In fact, causation is an inference that depends on correlation.
Consider a simple example: You push a lever and a gumdrop comes out. You propose the hypothesis that pushing the lever causes the gumdrop to come out. You do it a bunch of times and the gumdrop keeps coming out, so the correlation supports the proposed cause. A falsification would be push the lever and no gumdrop comes out, or don't push the lever and no gumdrop comes out. But falsification itself requires observations of patterns—that is, correlations. Repeated patterns of correlation, experimental control, and elimination of competing explanations, can reasonably justify causal inference. But it's still an inference.
Causation has been a subject of considerable debate, from Aristotle to Hume to the wrinkles of quantum theory. Menton didn't consider "alternative hypotheses or potentially conflicting evidence" about the nature of causation, because his purpose is polemics. Menton was not just wrong, but used his wrongness to cast aspersions.

Trump Admin Ends Obama Policies That Forced Schools To Discipline Based On Race
I very much doubt that those who implemented such policies, who believed that black students being disciplined at higher rates was the result of racism, had much experience teaching black students.
Consider the Chilean-born St. Paul (MN) School Superintendent, who implemented a go-easy-on-black-students discipline policy. There were at least two results of her policy: 1) student misbehavior increased greatly; 2)She got fired, albeit with an overly generous golden parachute. She taught bilingual students, which in terms of discipline, are quite different from black students. Maybe she had some experience in teaching classes with a high percentage of blacks, but I doubt it.
Black students are disciplined at higher rates because they misbehave at higher rates. You will not find many teachers who have taught blacks to say otherwise. Myself included.
Most Western countries have been and are being invaded. Rape and murder statistics are through the roof in countries with large numbers of illegals and even legal immigrants. Then of course there is the rampant common crime and fraud they bring to the West. It's way past time to do something to return to a sane country and culture.
A declaration of invasion/war!
Forced remigration!
Declare Islam a terrorist organization.
Arrest and imprison anyone (NGO's and donors) who brings illegal migrants to our shores.
Activate the National Guard to implement the removal/remigration.
Potato chips and academics... Me thinks they were overcome by Cheeto dust as a result of their overprotected environment.
University of Minnesota and transgender dolls... once again, academics far too insulated from reality in their environment.
Yale academic and patriarchy... will academics ever spend even a few days out of their insular environment?
National Academy... another lost cause of self-selected academics that are every bit as self-unaware of suicidal politics as the progressive/DSA/Communists.
There are two very significant truths about Fauci taking the 5th in the congressional hearings:
1. No one should testify against themselves. Always take the 5th and get a lawyer.
2. No government employee, elected official, volunteer, contractor, etc. should ever be allowed to take the 5th and keep their job too. Everyone who works for the government should be required to answer truthfully or fired and investigated.
OneGuy: 1. No one should testify against themselves. Always take the 5th and get a lawyer.
Get a lawyer when in doubt, but if no one ever talked to the law enforcement, then many crimes would be unsolved or missolved, including when you are the victim.
OneGuy: 2. No government employee, elected official, volunteer, contractor, etc. should ever be allowed to take the 5th and keep their job too.
That is already the rule, as long as the testimony concerns the employee's official duties. However, because the testimony is compelled by the government, it can't then be used as evidence in a criminal proceeding against the employee. See Garrity v. New Jersey (1967).
