We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Macy's, and what's up with department stores?

I like department stores, but hardly ever go to them.

Early in the video, it states that "Permanently shuttered 150 Macy's stores in New York" and that statistic was repeated. This in inaccurate. There are only 30 Macy's stores in New York State. The 150 stores are being closed nationwide not just New York.

But the theme that online retail is hollowing out brick and mortar stores and the high cost of operating in New York are killing major retailers and eventually lesser retailers in the state.

I live in a rural area and thank God (and Jeff Bezos) every day for Amazon. I am getting more and more reluctant to spend half a day driving to the nearest city to buy basic necessities. If Instacart would deliver this far out, I wouldn't even drive to the supermarket.

I gladly drive to the supermarket to make sure I get the best meat/produce/etc. instead of getting stuck with whatever they are trying to get rid of!

This video is a grrqt example of AI generated garbage that sounds informative, but is actually riddled with inaccuracies. The entire premise (150 Macy’s stores closing in NY state) is not correct just to start.
