Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

There was no era in which Americans were healthier than now, except in a romanticized imagination. NYU professor: Trump whole milk push is ‘dog whistle to far right’ U. That was the plan for open borders. It is the same plan and the same people pushing it in Europe, Canada and Australia. It is essentially a communist plan to destroy the West and make the Western powers easier to defeat. Simple as that. Today, right this minute, communist money is paying to have American citizens train to disrupt ICE and riot against Trump. Most of those Americans who willingly join the communist side are clueless and have been brainwashed in American schools for decades. Many have a gripe or have been convinced that they have a gripe with America, or whites, or men so they are easy targets for the far left communist movement. We are literally at war. Venezuela was openly working with China to flood our country with drugs to kill young Americans. Mexico too works with China to do the same. And, hold onto your hat, Canada did as well but certainly not to the extent that the South American countries have. Yes! Justin Trudeau knew China was funneling drugs into America through Canada and did nothing too stop it and on occasion facilitated it.
The mass immigration from 3rd world countries is also part of the communist plan to destabilize Western democracies. And many world leaders and bureaucrats now this and facilitate it either for money or power or just from a disdain of the West. If we do not treat this as war we will lose this war. re: Virginia High Court
We are massively underrepresented in the House. The number of House members should be reaised to several thousand, and arguably to 10,000 seats. This would fix several problems with our current government, especially including the gerrymandering disagreements. Two thoughts:
1) AI can more effectively teach entry level maths on an individualized basis than a teacher with a class of more than 10. 2) I question any study out of McGill that adheres to prevailing guidelines of the past, due to institutional capture. I believe the author is quite mistaken on the latest protein requirement studies. There are a few things in studies about health, diet and longevity that are both "tells" and statistical lies.
Here is one example: Americans a twice as likely to develop Diabetes today than 70 years ago and then the assumption that it must be our terrible diet. In fact Americans of Northern European origin are 'exactly' as likely to develop diabetes as they were 70 years ago AND "Americans (or immigrants" from third world countries are 'exactly' as likely to develop diabetes as they were 70 years ago. BUT the European immigrants are about 5% rate of diabetes and 3rd world immigrants are about 16% diabetic and with the massive immigration over those 70 years AND the wonder of statistics suddenly America's rate of diabetes is 8% plus and even though nothing changed but the statistical variables it MUST be from our terrible diet. The "tell" that lets you know you are being lied to is the author used statistics in a way guaranteed to prove him right and intentionally left out the data that would not prove him right, Lies, damned lies and statistics. Diabetes is genetic. If your mother had it you probably will too. If your father and mother had it you certainly will too. It doesn't "seem" to be genetic because most people don't get symptoms until their 20's or 30's. This is because it can be controlled by modifying your diet and exercise and most people after 20 something drastically change their diet and exercise in exactly the wrong way and viola they now have diabetes and will swear they just "caught" it. Most native Americans have diabetes. Most Australian aborigines have diabetes. A large percentage of Africans and South and Central Americans have diabetes. Because... It's genetic. A good point. We want things to be environmental because we see the environment happening but we can't see our genes. We want things to be controllable, because we want to feel our good fortune was due to OUR excellent decisions, not because Gramps married the smart sister instead of the pretty one.
OneGuy: Americans a twice as likely to develop Diabetes today than 70 years ago and then the assumption that it must be our terrible diet.
The rate of diabetes in non-Hispanics whites has increased significantly over the last generation. It was ~3.5% in 1990 but is ~7.9% today. See Geiss et al., Prevalence and Incidence Trends for Diagnosed Diabetes Among Adults Aged 20 to 79 Years, United States, JAMA 2014. Prevalence of Diabetes That's the whole point! The rates haven't increased, awareness and medical testing results have increased. Do you really think that rates magically increased one night in 1996? Scratch that! You probably do.
The rates by genetic race for diabetes hasn't changed. testing, treatment, reporting, activist-ing and victim-ing has changed. That's it. OneGuy: Do you really think that rates magically increased one night in 1996?
If you are referring to the chart, it doesn't show any sharp increases. OneGuy: The rates haven't increased, awareness and medical testing results have increased. Geiss 2014 considered changes in testing as well as the aging of the population. You are correct that there are genetic factors for diabetes. That's why doctors ask your family's history of diabetes. While it's not correct that "Most native Americans have diabetes," they do have much higher rates than the general population, as do Blacks and Hispanics. But all rates of diabetes across racial classifications have increased over the last generation, which strongly indicates environmental factors. Notably, the increase in diabetes has moved in tandem with increases in obesity. |
